Frenz Infusion System : Backpacked Set of Infusion Pump for Kids

Frenz Infusion System incorporates infusion pump into a stylish bag to improve patient’s experience under medical treatment. As part of the treatment, many patients need to be infused with liquid medicine, especially those who are under chemotherapy. This fact makes infusion pump becomes one of the most significant and familiar medical equipment in hospitals. However, although its functions are being improved, there is a lack in the design, which is meant more for adults than kids. As the result, young patients aged from two to thirteen years old have to face with undesired problems when using the product.

Improvement in the design of the infusion pump will not only change the patients’ experience in the hospitals but also facilitate their treatment. The goal of this project is to offer the new infusion pump design for sick children as a friendly and useful companion is the aim of this project.

Frenz was designed to answer the question “how to make the infusion systems more comfortable to use for children in the hospital?” At the same time, that object should be something familiar with children to relieve them from the feelings of being under medical treatment and easy to be carried around. The idea of a backpacked set of infusion pump was chosen, as a school bag,  this product is a familiar object since children carry it every time they go to school. Moreover, it is normal for other people to see a kid wearing a backpack anywhere.

Heart Aid : Emergency Response Unit for Household Use by Sahar Madanat Haddad

Sudden Cardiac Arrest or SCA kill many lives every year, mostly because proper medical response can’t be delivered in time. It inspires the concept Heart Aid, an emergency response unit for elderly people for household use. if you can perform CPR and defibrillation to the victim for the first 3-5 minutes of an attack, the rate of survival would be pretty high, unfortunately there are not many people understand how to perform that life-saving first aid.

TouchWarm Concept Diagnostic Device for Children

Children are afraid of the doctor for many reasons, some of those reasons would the cold an strange medical equipment as well as environment. TouchWarm is a concept diagnostic device that adds unique interaction during the diagnosis process to eliminate the fear factor in children’s mind. Cold stethoscope doesn’t feel comfortable when it touches your skin, children feel the same way. This device features heating platform when children choose to press the button, it will warm the stethoscope. There are multiple light pattern to choose, such as: an egg, chicken egg hatching, a snail, chicken and butterfly, etc. By choosing this pattern, the stethoscope will also emit the same light pattern, pretty cool isn’t it?

Smart Chair Mobility Aid Features Lightweight Magnesium Frame

The design of Smart Chair was born out of simple design and innovative mechanism to remove the stigma of “medical device” from mobility aid. Minimalist design is applied to overall body and seat, but the seat is a bit modern with futuristic touch without sacrificing user safety. The exterior structure is constructed of lightweight magnesium frame, a material which is both light and strong thus drastically reducing vehicle’s weight. The design that enables the body and the seat to be separated along with reduced weight allow user to enjoy different experience which hasn’t been possible with conventional chair. It can be picked up and loaded into a car or hand carried.

User centered design approach and universal design allows user to drive Smart Chair easily. It can be maneuvered to move in tight spaces, the wheelbase extends outwards on an extension bar as the speed of the wheels increases, creating greater stability. To keep this vehicle visible during the night, it’s equipped with headlights and taillights.

Enjoy unique shower or spa experience with Air-curtain Shower Cabin. It is actually a ring shaped shower unit which can also act as a curtain. Instead of using traditional glass walls, this unit covers you with flowing air from a single overhead ring. Here’s one of great attempts to design future Health Assistant Device from Rochus Jacob. The interface of this medical device features a cell-phone-like display to provide patients access to their health information. Using this device, patients can synchronize their medical data with an external server where their doctors can also monitor their patients progress and optimize the treatment.

This Health Assistant Device features dual layer where the outside layer works just like a cellphone with an e-ink touch display to operate the phone. There are several button layouts which can be chosen depending on the user’s experience. Simply slide open the outside layer to reveal your medical data. The minimalist interface prevents user from getting lost in sub menus while in health assistant mode.

Sol-Us Disinfectant Device Emits HINS-Light To Decontaminate The Air

Sol-us disinfectant device aims to create better environment by killing bacteria and germs in the air. This device emits a special HINS-light, a technology that was discovered and developed by Scott MacGregor (an electrical engineer), John Anderson and Michelle Maclean (microbiologists), and Gerry Woolsey (an optical physicist). HINS-light decontaminates the air and any exposed surfaces, it kills pathogens but is harmless to humans.

User has the ability to control how long this device will work from a touch screen panel which reveals different periods of time from 30 mins, 1 hour, 2 hours, 3 hours, and “all time”. PleuraFlow Active Tube Clearance System by Carbon Design

Standard chest tubes are meant to clear off clots. At times, it becomes difficult to clear off the clots, especially within the body. In order to cope up with this inevitable situation, Clear Catheter Systems projected a system, which would allow clots to be cleared off without breaking the sterile. After a great team effort by surgeons of Clear Catheter, PleuraFlow Active Tube Clearance System was invented. This device incorporates a metal loop inside the tube in order to keep the chest tube clear. The open loop allows easy flow of fluid and is extremely effectual at removing clots. PleuraFlow makes use of a wire loop in order to clear off the inside of the tube mechanically. By hastening recovery times and cutting down expensive complications, the utilization of PleuraFlow apparently reduces the price of recovery from important surgeries like heart and lung surgeries.
