JinGoo : Beautiful Light That Plays Music to Brighten Your Space

JinGoo is a designer craft piece that takes the form of a bird cage and brings together the features of an ambient light and a bluetooth speaker. With this beautiful lamp that plays music, owners are invited to create a pleasant atmosphere for any space.

According to the DAQI CONCEPT design team from Taiwan, the name JinGoo is taken from ancient Chinese literature, in which it is used to describe the sweet sound of birds calling. Bird keeping is a ritual in traditional Chinese culture and bird cages are commonly seen as part of home decor. The owners, whom enjoy a carefree and abundant lifestyle, would take their birds in cages for strolls in early mornings and admire the bird’s songs while writing and reciting poetry.

FleXSpace Treadmill Features Open Space Geometries Design

FleXSpace is a pioneering treadmill, which expresses a sublime new generation design, with bilateral display and front opening. The essence of the “open space geometries”, inspired of sense of fluid freedom and a health psychovisual without barriers, during the run.

FLEXSpace is also characterized by an evolved electromechanical system with variable geometry, through 4-electrohydraulic piston with spherical joints, which allow to tilt the frame longitudinally and transversely (differing for this, by similar solutions). This system allows you to simulate the conditions of a road surface not perfectly flat, for a real run experience and an involvement in the training of the muscles of the body in torsion on the inclined carpet.

Arc 3D Printed Stainless Steel Bicycle Uses Wire and Arc Additive Manufacturing Method to Produce The Frame

Arc 3D printed bicycle has been designed by a student team from TU Delft, it is fully functional 3D printed stainless steel bike. These students designed the frame of the bike to show you the potential of MX3D method for 3D printing metal. Well, the goal has been achieved, this 3-month project has resulted in a fully working bike. The bicycle frame was printed in collaboration with MX3D engineers in Amsterdam.

This bike was designed as part of a research project at the AMS Building Fieldlab into the viability of WAAM, Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing, a 3D printing technique based on MIG welding. Well 3D printing has gained popularity in the last few years but for those who want to print medium to large scale objects, they still have to deal with significant limitations in the technology. The method used in this project makes it possible to produce medium to large-scale metal objects with almost total form freedom. The students also prove the frame’s strength by riding the bike around the city, even on bumpy cobblestone streets of the city, the bike still performs really well.

RESeT Convertible Concept Car Is Inspired by Sailboat and Focuses on Volkswagen Design Philosophy

VW RESeT is Paulo Italiani’s master thesis that tells a story about an ecological convertible car concept aims to bring the passengers the luxury of the future by setting ourselves free from the “network”. This is the kind of freedom that can only be enjoyed by sailing a boat, feeling the sea breeze far away from the over connected urban centers.

The field of mobility and transportation is living a crucial moment after the economical and ecological crisis. Sooner or later the cars will come out with alternative fuel or electric engines. The driver experience will change dramatically, and the “vroom” effect from the combustion engine will vanish. It’s time to rethink the feelings that will replace the traditional driving pleasures.

Mocape : Design Proposal for Museum of Contemporary Arts and Planning Exhibition of Shenzhen

Mocape is a special project proposal for Museum of Contemporary Arts and Planning Exhibition in the region of Shenzhen. It aims to provide intimate and iconic public building for the Futian Center District. The project demonstrates a pair of hands coming together and interlocking each other, this is universally recognized gesture that represents respect and humbleness.

The building would house a new internal square space, a nice protected space of tranquillity and calm with traditional Chinese courtyard characteristics. Mocape features 2 principal wings, where Contemporary Art Museum is on one side and Planning Exhibition spaces on the other. The public square is located between those two, creating a nice space for outdoor venues or a meeting place for communal activities. The harmony is further enhanced through the site landscaping where the plan of the city is recreated at a small scale with water features and hard landscaping framing a pedestrian route as well as re-establishing human scale to the site.

Superloop Intersection for Self-Driving Cars by Atis Sedlenieks and Dārta Dambe

Superloop has been designed as part as competition project for Tallinn Architecture Biennale “Self-Driven City”. The project was awarded honorable mention.

This proposal is intended for time when autonomous cars will be 100% main city transportation. What will that mean for city streets and intersections?

Time is most valuable unit and humankind always are longed for doing most in less time. The goal to “travel to destination faster” is one of the main drive reasons for transport infrastructure evolution. Horses, bicycles, trains, cars, aircrafts etc. The efforts to reach this goal will guide the development of the technology and the city also in the times to come. Autonomous cars definitely will solve the more productive use of travel time itself, but this time after all won’t solve the base goal – “travel to destination faster”. Cities and roads that are adapted to autonomous cars can help to reach this goal.

As there will be no human error there will be no or very high speed limit. Today speed limit on city roads varies from 30- 50km/h. With only autonomous cars on roads speed limit could be 150km/h. If speed limit is that high, the only thing stopping cars are intersections. Autonomous cars have to slow down taking turn because of centrifugal forces acting on vehicle. Tires don’t have enough grip and car simply slips out of the turn or flips over. This is where superelevation comes in when designing roads.
Our proposal is aiming for intersection solution concept that is as fast as possible. Concept that can be adapted and used in every intersection no matter how much traffic lanes are intersecting. In that way there is no traffic jams and for the first time city can narrow car roads leaving more space for pedestrians and bicyclists.

Dune Flatware Set by Andrea Ponti

Andrea Ponti, an Italian designer, has designed an aluminum flatware set called Dune. It’s a concept project inspired by the concept of food design meant as experimental cuisine and molecular gastronomy where a culinary research lab seeks to explore the technical, artistic, and social aspects of cooking. Every single element is essential when it comes to multi-sensory conception of food, from cooking spaces, utensils, to tableware and packaging.

Dune demonstrates experimental aspect of food design through both of its structure and materials. The traditional flatware collection has evolved into more modern “personal flatware set” with contemporary look and feel. It is constructed with aluminum that makes this flatware set ultra light and much sleeker compared to steel or titanium flatware. The anodized finishing makes it durable and easy to clean.
