Fish Hole Creates Safe Ice Hole In Frozen Lakes or Ponds

In winter, lakes and rivers usually freeze but only on the surface, allowing fish to survive beneath the ice. However, as winter progresses, oxygen levels begin to drop as well as food, yes, fish can learn to adapt to survive, but not all of them can do that. We could create holes to save the fish, but people also might accidentally fall into the ice hole, so, keeping this in mind, Fish Hole is created.

It is a weighted double-layer column which can be placed in lakes or ponds before icing up to create safe, uniform ice holes. Once the column is frozen in place, you can remove the inner tube to allow the oxygen in. at the same time, it can be used for fish feeding or fishing. The bright colors of this unit offer a nice warning about the presence of holes in the ice.

Nissan Concept 2020 Vision Gran Turismo Supercar

Gamers, you might want to kiss Nissan as the company releases the virtual covers off the NISSAN CONCEPT 2020 Vision Gran Turismo. It’s a future vision from Nissan what a race car should look like, it was designed and created through collaboration with creators of Gran Turismo, Polyphony Digital Inc., PlayStation driving franchise.

It was started as a dream project of Nissan designers, they were given freedom to create their dream supercar just from their own Gran Turismo fantasy garage. Now you get to see the awesome result from a team of young designers at Nissan Design Europe, London. This model is believed to have so much potential since it got great input from an advanced engineering team based at Nissan Technical Center in Atsugi, Japan. So, do you agree this is how a supercar of the future should look like?

Harley Davidson Livewire Electric Motorcycle Renews Your Freedom to Ride

Harley-Davidson just has released several images of its latest project: Harley-Davidson Livewire Electric Motorcycle. Yes, you read that right, the iconic motorcycle maker that is famous for its big engine and growling sound now share its focus to a silent motorcycle. Innovate or die, people are getting concern with our environment and electric vehicle technology evolves rapidly, Harley-Davidson gets this, so, the company has designed and developed its first electric motorcycle.

Starting next week, selected consumers of HD will be able to ride and test the vehicle, they will provide feedback on the bike, helping HD to shape better future of its e-motorbike. You can’t buy it yet, it’s not for sale, this project is designed for the purpose of getting insight into rider expectations of an electric Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

Urban Skyfarm : Future Vertical Farm for Urban Areas

Based on recent studies, in the future, most world’s population will live in urban areas, and the total of world population will increase by about 3 billion people. Urban Skyfarm proposal was inspired by Dr. Dickson Despommier’s concept of vertical farm, it’s a possible solution to deal with our future problems of land shortage, deforestation, and of course, environmental pollution due to over population.

The idea here is to locate a vertical farm in downtown of Seoul, right adjacent to the Cheonggyecheon stream which is an ideal place to host local food production and distribution. This skyfarm takes advantage of hydroponic system as substitution to soil based agricultural extensions, yet it is able to produce the same food but more efficient and healthy thanks to controlled environment (heat, light, moisture). Urban Skyfarm will be a zero energy facility, it uses renewable energy produced by both solar and wind energy for the production process, including transportation and food distribution.

Motorola HC1 Headset Computer Offers Hands-Free Mobile Computing

Designed by Rob Mansfield, Motorola HC1 headset computer offers a wearable computer that allows you to get access to hands free mobile computing. This device combines micro display, noise canceling microphones, and ARM based mobile computing, you can imagine to get access to any critical business documents simply by turning your head or command the computer to do so. No more workstation, this device utilizes a custom voice controlled UI developed by Kopin along with its 6-axis head tracking to allow you navigate documents easily.

Give this device to technicians, they would need it the most while in the field, climbing towers, giving machinery service etc. They can get access vital data and diagrams from a virtual 15-inch display. The optional camera module allows HC1 to stream wearer’s point view to other members for live feedback in real time. HC1 caters for left and right eye in a single product, it’s one of the main focuses during the design process. After several prototypes, the result is a horizontally symmetrical main housing that can be detached from the soft-goods frame. It can be flipped horizontally in order to swap the display from one eye to the other.

iStick USB Flash Drive with An Integrated Apple Lightning Connecting

Finally, someone made something that’s been on my mind for ages. iStick USB flash drive is integrated with Apple lightning connector to make it easily and quickly move data between computers, iPhones, iPads, or iPod touches. Seriously, I don’t really like the idea that I have to connect to iTunes every time I want to access my music files. Using this little device, you don’t need internet, wireless, networks or the Cloud, all your data are safe from other 3rd party server operators.

USB flash drives are a great invention, they are great way for transferring files between computers and don’t even require setup, unfortunately, they don’t work with Apple iDevices. Well, iStick opens this door for us and I believe that all Apple fanboy would love it as well. USF : Ultra Small Footprint Vehicle by Alex Langensiepen

USF (Ultra Small Footprint) Vehicle was a sponsored project for GenZe by Mahindra, the objective was to design a vehicle for the next generation (Generation Z) for one of largest cities of the future.

USF has been designed around the city of Tokyo for the year 2025, with the aim at bringing excitement back into the commuter day to day travels. The city of Tokyo, while it has an extremely efficient transportation system that arrives promptly, all of the commuter trains are grossly over capacity, some as close as 200%, which leads to a dismal commute to work.

3D Printed Fractal LED Generator by Margot Krasojević

The light’s ceramic 3d printed shell is modeled using an ever decreasing repeated pattern, these fractal dimensions reserve self-similarity across scale, where at any magnification there is a smaller piece of the object only being restricted through it’s entire form. When air passes over it the light freely rotates picking up speed as a result of it’s weight,

Balance and pattern repetition. The movement rotates a motor which creates a current using a joule thief circuit to light up a cluster of LED’S. The light only uses wind power to generate this electricity, a capacitor allows the light to store up energy when there is no wind power to turn it. There are no batteries in the circuit only the electronics circuit shown below. The ceramic shell was designed using simulation software to test the aerodynamics and fluid dynamics of the form, materials and densities.

Arbre Blanc : White Tree Tower Inspired by Montpellier’s Tradition of Outdoor Living

Arbre Blanc a.k.a. White Tree tower is the winning design of “Folie Architecturale of the 21st century” for Montpellier, France. This architecture design is the brainchild of an encounter between Japan and the Mediterranean, a cross-cultural attempt that symbolizes modern Montpellier. At the same time, it also represents the interchange between 2 generations of architects: Sou Fujimoto, Japanese firm, at the state of its art with the young French generation Manal Rachdi Oxo Architects and Nicolas Laisné Associés.

This ambitious project is called Arbre Blanc, a multipurpose tower designed for apartments, a restaurant, an art gallery, a bar, offices, and many facilities with breathtaking view. From the start of this project, the architects were heavily inspired by Montpellier’s tradition of outdoor living, which is perfect since this tower will be located between city center and newly developed district of Port Marianne and Oydsseum. It stands exactly in the center of old and new Montpellier.

Luxurious Glass Superyacht is an innovative concept yacht designed by Lujac Desautel, one of the finalists for “Young Designer of The Year” award at the 2014 ShowBoats Design Awards. It’s a competition that highlights the best superyacht design from students and trainee designers.

Just like its name suggests, you can tell this yacht features transparent material to maximize the view from its surroundings. From a distance, it looks like a floating Japanese lamp or an enormous votive candle. water reflects the sunlight to the yacht, it makes the entire body is bathed in beautiful, celestial glow.

Connecting the whole world to the internet using Free space optical communication, or FSO. It’s an ambitious project of Facebook and Internet.org to bring affordable basic internet services to everyone in the world. Let’s face it, at this moment, there are still many places without any phone connection, let alone internet connection. We all have enjoyed easy access to information to find jobs, connect with friends and families, start businesses, and many more, thanks to internet connection. According to recent study by Deloitte, the internet has played very important part in driving economic growth in developing countries, it also solves many social and economic challenges. By expanding internet access, we could possibly create more than 100 million new job and lift millions of people from poverty.

Facebook takes new approach to bring the internet to everyone by developing new platforms based on the principle that different communities require different technical solutions. For example in urban or semi-urban environment, most likely this areas are already covered by 2G and 3G networks, the company can work together with the mobile operators to bring affordable internet services. However, the other parts of the world that don’t have access to 2G and 3G networks are usually located in remote or difficult to reach areas, even physical access to communication can be difficult.

Foot Latch Design for Public Restroom Stall Doors – No Hands Needed

Foot Latch is a foot operated door latch designed for public restroom stalls. It is a replacement for traditional door latches that reduces the risk of spreading germs and contagious diseases by allowing people to avoid coming in contact with contaminated door latches in public restrooms.

Infectious diseases and viruses, such as Influenza, are transferred from one person to another in many different ways. The main causes for the spread of viruses include coming in contact with infected people and contaminated surfaces. This contact can happen either by touching an infected person, or indirect by touching a contaminated surface. Restrooms in public places, such as airports, train stations, hospitals and restaurants, pose the highest risk for the indirect spread of disease and viruses. To reduce the risk, most of today’s public restrooms are equipped with automatic touch free equipment, such as water fixtures, hand dryers and towel dispensers. The one area that has not been addressed with touch free technology is the restroom stall door latch. Entry and exit from a public restroom stall still involves contact with potentially contaminated door latches.
