LG Mobile Phones, in association with crowdSPRING, an online marketplace for creative services, and Autodesk, the leading 2D and 3D design and engineering software producer, has announced the third LG annual design the future contest to characterize the future of mobile communication. The main goal of the innovative effort is to give the opportunity to the consumers to design a revolutionary next-generation LG mobile phone that reflects their passion and fulfill their future requirements. This year, over 40 winners will be awarded with $80,000 cash in total along with other alluring presents. Autodesk will provide the participants a 15-days free trial of SketchBook Pro which features an intuitive, streamlined user interface that even new users can operate easily to create their dream phone. SENSE is an innovative wireless device concept that enables users to get a close and more intuitive approach with their preferred sites, games and movies by creating a sensitive and powerful connection between the system and the users. By featuring a tact sensitive screen, this device creates a tactile experience of thermal, physical and haptical properties of a product on the computer screen.
The users have to insert their hand in the SENSE sheath to perceive different object properties like pressure, softness, roughness, hardness and many others, which is transferred to the user’s brain by featuring quite a few numbers of nerve receptors inside the device. Moreover, it features a magnification system to allow users to sense even a particular area of a product pointing on the screen. To taste a recipe before being cooked, the device features a flavor-ink micro-printer that generates stimulated flavors via the combination of its 5 basic wax cartridges.

Mimeo is an innovative cellphone concept that enables the user to make calls and send messages in a more interactive way. The writable bended body of the concept features a signal light on top of the phone and an OLED touchscreen for efficient functioning. On the bottom part, it contains a call button and a write button that enables the user to make calls and make the surface writable. The end contains the stylus which acts as a pen nib when writing with the cellphone. Aside from intuitive and convenient use, the cellphone can become a great icon of style by featuring four different themes for the surface, oak, azure, roseate and breeze, when the phone is not in use.

Nexus is an electric powered scooter concept designed to be a great short commuting solution inside the airports. The front wheels of the scooter comprise two electric engines powered by four 12 V batteries that gives 2 hours of continuous use. The rear part is a freewheel that gives a third point of support to the user that ensures up to 110 kg of load to be carried. The front part of the scooter contains the power plug that can be used either 110v or 220v whichever is available. The handlebar, made of 6061 aluminum, contains the ignition system and the speed controller to adjust the speed up to 15 km/h. Nexus can become a more interesting and intuitive way of passing time and moving around for someone who may have to spend several hours in airports during transit period.

The innovative STER UV water sterilization concept has been designed for fast, simple, compact and intuitive water purifying to ensure a clean and healthy kitchen environment. The concept comprises a thin and lightweight UV light stir stick along with an induction charger that purifies drinking water directly in a pitcher, glass or other water container quickly and easily. The induction charger doesn’t require replacement of batteries or contains no heat production or moving parts, making it an energy efficient and environment friendly tool with optimum effectiveness. The most suitable stir tool length has been determined as 20cm by testing it in different containers of up to 1.5 liter capacity and the conical shape of the tool gives effective visual clues, great grip comfort and semantics. The linear lamp technology of the stir tool was chosen for both the advantage of a tip reinforcement and maximum surface exposure. Both the stick and the base are made of ABS plastic housing, creating a smooth and clean surface and stunning aesthetic.
