Tri.on is a remote controlled robot concept specially designed to be used by the fire brigades or disaster control unit. The main inspiration of this concept came from the drive of generating something that can substitute a human being under tremendously dangerous conditions. Tri.on robot features four wheel shaped rolling tires, each with 3 inner wheels to make the tires roll, allowing the robot to run over any sorts of uneven surfaces such as stairs. It has two hands that can move in any direction and two holders in the end of the hands that provides strong grip when picking up an object.

Tea4Two is a portable concept electric tea kettle that can prepare tea for two persons at a time, one with its inner container and the cap of the kettle will act as a tea holder for another person. The simple and nice looking kettle offers great user friendly operating with only one functional power button that will switch on the kettle and will be switched off automatically once the tea is ready. The glossy body is made of highly durable and heat resistant plastic that can easily be cleaned with wet cloths.

The Capshell is an intelligent medication storage that will eliminate the ever increasing non adherence tendency amongst the elderly. This portable and elegant tool reminds the user to take their medications at a preset time and will record the intervals of taking medications. The schedule of Capshell will be set by a pharmacist according to the requirements of a particular individual, loads the storage on a weekly basis and ensures whether the patient is taking his or her medications timely. By adopting Capshell, the elderly community will surely be able to reduce the number of mistakes they are doing regarding taking their medications.

Design Week Awards are always awarding a project depending on their abilities and aesthetics. The Peezy, a useful and user-friendly medical device designed by Dr. Vincent Forte, has been announced as the winner of 2009. This funnel-shaped device will be able to diminish the problems involved with female patients when they are asked to provide a mid stream urine sample. Peezy has a fiber sponge at its base, which puffs out after the initial 10ml of urine, so that the mid-stream urine flow can be stored in a standard common container. This concept, after getting implemented, will surely touch many people’s lives and the wisdom of the judges is really appreciable.

This most modern minivan must come to the retailers of present days. These small vans are run by solar panels and so they emit no obnoxious gases and so these are very eco-friendly. It has a body that is easily changeable and the inside can be fitted with different detachable modules which can be used to store different items according to the changing need of the market. Various items like frozen deserts, hot snacks, greetings cards, magazines and souvenirs can be kept inside it, as the solar panel on the top of the van suffice for the electricity supply needed without any extra cost.

MERM (Modular Electronic Retail Minivan) facilitates a mobile retail market that could bring retail services and vibrancy to city areas that have been drained of intensity due to singular functional uses or irregular visitor flows. With its various functional modules and transformable car body, MERM makes optimum use of the space it occupies. The electric engine does not produce any air pollution and the solar panel on the roof provides power for all facilities on board.
With the help of a central information system, a group of mobile MERMs could greatly increase the efficiency of the retail process, and reduce unnecessary municipal input. So that MERM can match various sales purposes in different environments, the central container has been designed with changeable modules. These accommodate “Magazines and Souvenirs”, “Hot Food” and “Frozen Food”. Users can purchase several types of modules and choose a two-module combination (one for each side of MERM) that best fits their current sales plan. Modules are easy to replace by simply sliding them out from the car body.

When MERM is in driving mode, all the inner space is fully used for storing goods. When it’s switched to retail booth mode, the shelf can be easily unfolded for display outside the car, making adequate space for the vendor to stand inside. This feature minimizes the size of the car and thus reduces its energy consumption. Also, the compact size enables the user to drive in narrow urban streets.
