How do you see San Fransisco in 2018 ? Apparently IwamotoScott Architects has a totally futuristic vision of San Fransisco that made them won $10,000 grand prize in the City of The Future contest. Their winning entry was a Hydro-Net concept that includes a ?Geothermal Mushroom? at located on the top of Bernal Hill and a ?Fog Flower? on Ocean Beach. Here?s their full series of Hydro-Net concept illustrations.

HYDRO-NET provides an underground arterial traffic network for hydrogen-fueled hover-cars, while simultaneously collecting, storing and distributing water and power tapped from existing aquifer and geothermal sources beneath San Francisco.

At key waterfront and neighborhood locales, HYDRO-NET emerges to form linkages between the terrestrial and subterranean worlds. Here new architectures bloom as opportunistic urban caves and outcroppings, fostering new social spaces and densified urban forms, fed by the resources and connectivity provided by HYDRO-NET.

What a stunning vision, San Fransisco already become one of the greenest cities in the US, but this vision totally remake San Fransisco into ecotopia in 2018.

Until recently prostheses could only be matched roughly to the wearer ? if the proportions and measurements seemed to fit, the aid was considered suitable for that person?s future life. Over the last couple of decades design has helped create an entirely new awareness, and modern prostheses are sophisticated high-tech products that facilitate both mobility and a self-determined life. Natural movements are imitated with the help of intelligent technology, movements that get very close to those of the human leg. However, since prostheses will always remain something artificial to their wearer, it is equally important from a holistic point of view to also address the aesthetic needs of people who have lost a limb.

The C-Leg is an innovative, completely microprocessor-controlled leg prosthesis system that helps people who have undergone transfemoral amputation to achieve a new degree of safety and dynamics. The new C-Leg has been upgraded and expanded with many innovative features. It combines both years of experience and the intelligent use of modern technologies with a clear design of elegant appearance. The C-Leg features a wireless remote control that lets users easily switch between different settings, e.g. for walking, bicycling or inline-skating, as well as make individual fine adjustments to the hydraulic system. No matter at what speed and on what ground the user is walking, the C-Leg reacts in real time to the gait circumstances, ensuring not only natural movements but also offering a high amount of mobility and independence with every step. With its aesthetic and clear language of form, the C-Leg contributes to the well being of its wearers ? thus allowing them to bear their disability with greater self-confidence.

It’s the new version of Nissa Pivo concept, first shown in 2005, the electric-powered, 360-degree swiveler. Now it’s the Pivo 2. Just the same as the first Pivo, its cabin rotates, eliminating the need for a reverse gear, though its in-wheel motors can propel it in any direction — even sideways. What’s new in the Pivo 2 is its in-car Robotic Agent, a voice-recognition interface (in English or Japanese) to a valet application that can engage in a range of communications from basic vehicle functions to the closest parking space. It looks like a cartoon car, but I really like the design.

In order to make cooking easier, this cooker simulates traditional cooking style while using automatic technology, and microprocessor to adjust heating power and control the movement of the innovative cooking system. Moreover, it can also measure the weight of grain and calculate corresponding water level to ensure the right amount of water. In addition, its innovative cooking system performs stirring, streaming, boiling and draining actions. It is specially designed for young professionals who don?t have time to cook, it is space saving, stylish and smart. It builds-in an intelligent program which helps users to cook any kind of carbohydrates and allows you to cook anytime. However, it also has a user-centred features- cook history to let you review what dishes you had within a week. Meanwhile it helps users to cook in a faster, easier and healthier.

The one that I like the most about the future is car, it’s amazing how people design a very futuristic design and not so little can make it happen, some even already have the prototype. Now let’s see about Mazda Nagare concept from Mazda, the word itself pronounced as “na-ga-reh”, this cool car was first shown at the Greater Los Angeles Internation Auto Show, and also as the first series of design concepts that Mazda will show in this global auto show season.Laurens Van Den Acker as Mazda’s new global design director, the team was challenged to invent a means of registering motion in vehicles, and Nagare was born, the meaning of its name is flowing (in Japanese), this design achieves the goal also signaling a fresh design of future Mazda vehicles.

This mazda is planned to be designed in 2020 said Franz von Holzhausen, Mazda North American Operations? (MNAO) Director of Design, and they need redefined basic proportions and the idea of Read the rest of this entry »
