The concept design today is not just restricted to the ones running on the road but designers today are coming up with exciting designs for both modes of transportation, be it on air or on water. These also include the designs aimed for leisure and pleasure, on these lines come the “Jetbike” designed by San Francisco based designer Norio Fulikawa. The concept looks hot as it can be said to be the racing bike of water because it is aerodynamically designed and has an awesome exhaust pipe and two fins to support its surge forward. Still remember about Lavender Phone? Andrew Kim has designed another cool gadget, called Soma. The Soma MP3 player is a revolutionary product if one looks at the design aspect. As the designer says that the shape is something new as it breaks the conventional square design with an unconventional geometric design element. The device is named as ‘Soma’ which means touch. The design not just gives the device an elegant and dynamic look but also feels good to hold. The surface design flows into one another quite effortlessly and each seems to be complementing each other. The device is available in five different materials, each with its own sense of beauty.

The new complex coming up for the new headquarters of Antwerp Port Authority in Antwerp, Belgium can be stated to be a masterpiece. Being designed by London based architects Zaha Hadid Architects, the new extension is expected to be completed in 2013 and will house about 500 staff members, with the existing building will be refurbished so that the public counters, meeting rooms and offices be in that place. The new building which shall be five stories high will consist of auditorium and restaurant and additional offices and meeting rooms. It will be a towering structure overlooking the city and will sure be a monument to look out for.

Aeolus is a vehicle which allows people to travel the earth by air. The design concept is a reaction to an increasing desire of ecological correctness and novel experiences in traveling. The vehicle floats in the air, lifted by a large volume of helium and it can stay airborne for a journey of two weeks. With little effort it can be moved over the earth surface independent from any sort of infrastructure. The vehicle is designed for two to four people. Technically it floats like a balloon and is moved by the wind. Unlike balloons, Aeolus has an aerodynamic shape and is motorized with air’s crews.
On demand the airship can be steered in the aspired direction. The vertical shape and a fold out stand allows landing in many areas far from airports. People can travel to exotic and untouched places without leaving traces. The concept is not about a fast arrival but about sensibility to the environment and traveling.

The new art museum scheduled to be finished in 2009 has been inspired by nature and the way nature and its processes function. Designed by Paris based design firm R&Sie (n) architecture, even though on the first look, seems like an ice cavity but in fact it is carved out of wood and other eco friendly materials. Even the construction of this museum has been carefully planned so that the end result gives out an amorphous mix of structure which though looks disorderly but does have an identity of its own. It’s an interesting concept which inspires us to be responsible towards nature.
