Bell & Ross AeroGT Concept Car Inspired by Aviation

Inspired by Grand Tourers a.k.a Grand Turismo in Italian, Bruno Belamich, Bell & Ross creative director, has designed Bell & Ross AeroGT. Each year, in order to create new models, he needs new sources of inspiration. Following the success of B-Rocket motorbike, he wanted to go further by designing a concept car. This project aimed to come up with a car that can hold its own, even amongst automotive professionals. AeroGT became the starting point for the creation of a new pair of watches, BR 03 AeroGT models.

Bell & Ross AeroGT concept car celebrates the legend of racing cars which were produced in the land of Pasolini in the 50s, particularly Ferrari 250 GTO, designed to be both great speeds and on the track. This project is a supercar inspired by aviation where Bell & Ross is keeping in touch with its aeronautic roots. This car is extremely low and aerodynamic, it has 4.7 meter long body that seems to split the air like an arrow. Just like some stealth aeroplanes, the body features pointed form with sharp angles and cutting overhangs. From above, the drop-shaped glass roof reminds of the glass cover of a jet cockpit.

Superloop Intersection for Self-Driving Cars by Atis Sedlenieks and Dārta Dambe

Superloop has been designed as part as competition project for Tallinn Architecture Biennale “Self-Driven City”. The project was awarded honorable mention.

This proposal is intended for time when autonomous cars will be 100% main city transportation. What will that mean for city streets and intersections?

Time is most valuable unit and humankind always are longed for doing most in less time. The goal to “travel to destination faster” is one of the main drive reasons for transport infrastructure evolution. Horses, bicycles, trains, cars, aircrafts etc. The efforts to reach this goal will guide the development of the technology and the city also in the times to come. Autonomous cars definitely will solve the more productive use of travel time itself, but this time after all won’t solve the base goal – “travel to destination faster”. Cities and roads that are adapted to autonomous cars can help to reach this goal.

As there will be no human error there will be no or very high speed limit. Today speed limit on city roads varies from 30- 50km/h. With only autonomous cars on roads speed limit could be 150km/h. If speed limit is that high, the only thing stopping cars are intersections. Autonomous cars have to slow down taking turn because of centrifugal forces acting on vehicle. Tires don’t have enough grip and car simply slips out of the turn or flips over. This is where superelevation comes in when designing roads.
Our proposal is aiming for intersection solution concept that is as fast as possible. Concept that can be adapted and used in every intersection no matter how much traffic lanes are intersecting. In that way there is no traffic jams and for the first time city can narrow car roads leaving more space for pedestrians and bicyclists.

United Nude Lo Res Concept Car Is The Result of Lowering 3D Resolution of Lamborghini Countach

One of reasons United Nude won a 2016 Wallpaper Design Award was ignoring all standard rules of car design. United Nude Lo Res Concept Car is one of United Nude Lo Res project that started few years ago, it has become an important signature of the brand.

The method used here is based on the principle of re-designing the same object in a series. By lowering the 3D resolution, it results in a more fragmented and abstract design, each step of the way. The shape of this concept car came from lowering the 3D resolution of the iconic Lamborghini Countach designed by Marcello Gandini from early 70s. Lo Res car is completely a design experiment, it’s totally not your conventional car. The abstract appearance makes it look like a moving sculpture.

Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo Virtual Racing Car Is Based on Popular Bugatti Type 57 Tank

This year at Frankfurt Motor Show, Bugatti will showcase their full-scale show car for popular Gran Turismo auto racing game. Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo images have been released for Gran Turismo fans to enjoy. The designers got their inspiration from Bugatti’s successful racing tradition, during the 20s and 30s, Bugatti enjoyed great success in car racing. The historical theme for this virtual modern race car was particularly taken from Bugatti Type 57 Tank, its victorious in the 24-hour Le Mans race in 1937 and 1939 is unforgettable. That’s why you can see the same characteristic in this Buggatti Vision Gran Turismo with its classic blue two-tone finish, just like the winning car Type 57 G Tank in 1937. This color also evokes the colors of historical French race cars of that particular period, since then, Bugatti has been known for this iconic blue color.

Cadillac LMP-09 Vision Gran Turismo Concept Car by Arthur Nustas

We came across a cool futuristic racing car dedicated to the popular Gran Turismo video game series. Designed by Arthur B. Nustas, an automotive designer, this single seat concept car features the dynamic shape of a flying eagle with sharp details and smooth surfaces.

Most designers are inspired by current product design trends such as Apple Products, however designing a futuristic vehicle allows you to envision and evolve a design DNA language to your own preference.

I have designed my vision of a 2030 Cadillac LMP single seat race car, based on a lightweight conceptual idea where the wheels are separately attached to a cabin that includes a rear engine power train. The cabin itself is inspired by a B2 stealth bomber and the dynamic shape of a flying eagle. Although Cadillac has a very distinctive design language, especially through the C-pillars, I wanted to stress upon that area which resembles a landing eagle with it’s wings spread open ready to hunt its prey.

The C-pillar itself acts as a spoiler assisting with down-force and improving upon breaking distance. The main power comes from a smaller 3.0L twin-turbo charged V-8 Northstar engine powering the rear wheels and two electric motors mounted in the front powering the front wheels, providing an all-wheel-drive capability to improve acceleration and cornering.

Futuristic Vision Gran Turismo Concept Car Study for Volkswagen

This futuristic concept vehicle is dedicated for Volkswagen, it’s a Vision Gran Turismo project where you don’t need a pilot, it’s an unmanned vehicle.

The brief for this project was to design a cool GT Vision concept for Volkswagen. Our first realization was that, in a game, you control a pilot that controls a vehicle. While being realistic, it’s not really immersive, so we decided to get rid of the pilot and make an unmanned vehicle instead.

Gran Turismo 6 is a good platform for the brands to show their know-how but it’s also a video game so it has no limits. We, then, decided to use futuristic technologies like a xenon thruster (ionic engine) and supercapacitors to power the vehicle, Coandă effect to lift the vehicle and reduce air drag and laser wheels for frictionless steering. It also features sensors (G Force, temperature, altitude, inclination, etc…), 3D cameras and rear rotating wings for steering and airbraking.

Having no pilot, we were able to design an extremely aerodynamic vehicle, with long flat horizontal volumes, which echoes Volkswagen’s current DNA. Indeed, they have a strong desire to optimize and reduce the Cx of their vehicles, just like the XL-1, for ultimate efficiency. Nevertheless, we didn’t want to have anything like a grille or regular headlights but instead wanted to bring new features that could inspire new ways of designing their vehicles. That’s why, when it’s off, the INFINITE becomes a sculpture showing the design direction Volkswagen is heading to.

Cadilac Estill Super Car Concept by Ondrej Jirec

Cadilac Estill super car project was born out of the idea of re-designing the classic Cadillac brand with futuristic touch. You can read Ondrej Jirec explanation about this project below.

The desired result was to create a concept that maintains clues from the history of the Cadillac brand and introduces a futuristic and fresh vision. The history clues were a fuselage suspended between two long body sides – a good example is the 1970 Cadillac Eldorado. Taking this pure form study, stripping down from all details, and taking it as a building theme for the whole concept, those were the main inspiration for the development of this concept.

The project was designed to respect these three rules:

  1. Links to the history of the Cadillac brand, but is not “retro”.
  2. It is recognizable as a modern Cadillac but pushes the design language further.
  3. Looks futuristic and conceptual, but not as a video game car.

The interior layout is built around the driver experience. The passenger seat is pushed slightly back so the driver can reach the feeling of being in a true race car, inspired by the Cadillac Le Mans heritage.

FIAKER 2.0 Advanced Carriage by Michael Hofbauer

FIAKER 2.0 Advanced Carriage is the answer to the challenge of designing contemporary and ecological concept transportation that offers the typical feeling of a coach tour. This concept carriage combines the best of both world, traditional value with modern technology. Traditional coach tours are a big business in many cities around the world, thanks to tourists, or other special events such as birthdays and marriages. Horse-draw carriage tours have been long targeted by government because the cities have to deal with the amount of manure produced by those horses. It creates urban street pollution, during wet weather, the streets can turn into rivers of muck while during dry weather, the manure turns to dust, choking pedestrians and coating buildings.

Fiaker 2.0 Advanced Carriage is hoped to address 2 main topics here, instead of stopping the tours, why not creating an environmentally friendly transportation that still carries the traditional characteristic of horse-drawn carriage. This concept carriage is the solution of street pollution produced by coach tours in busy city streets, it catches horse manure as you can see from the images below.

Futuristic Rinspeed XchangE Autonomous Concept Car Is Too Good To Be True

If Rinspeed XchangE Autonomous concept car was going to be a standard for our future vehicle, then I would love to time travel into the future. From the outside, it looks just like any other car, but the inside that counts, it is filled with futuristic technology to make our driving experience as comfortable as possible. All major auto manufacturers are designing and developing autonomous driving car which should be our reality somewhere near future, but most of them put the finishing touch on the technology. Rinspeed chooses different approach by placing man at the center of the autonomous car and presents this concept at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show.

Rinspeed XchangE allows you to travel in business-class style, it’s both mobile office and mobile living room, you can sit and relax, enjoying the view along the way since the car moves you, not the other way around. Forget about tired eyes from staring at the road, you can sit back, relax, watch a movie or just listening to your favorite music while making a cup of espresso.

Redesigning Commercial Aircraft by Shabtai Hirshberg Means A Greener Future For The Aviation Industry

Shabtai Hirshberg has recently graduated from Transportation Design MFA program at the College for Creative Studies (CCS) in Detroit, Michigan. His thesis “Redesigning Commercial Aircraft” was based on extensive research on the commercial aviation market, the result was innovative aircraft with revolutionary improvement, forward thinking design, future technology that were all incorporated into our future commercial aircraft design.

As we already know, commercial aviation is a rapid growing market and it’s been predicted that it will have at least 100% increase in number of flights by the time we reach 2030. The fact that fuel price keeps on increasing, we can tell that airlines business has become less profitable, and the result is most airlines will make major cutbacks such as reducing passengers comfort by reducing legroom.
