Futuristic Vision Gran Turismo Concept Car Study for Volkswagen

This futuristic concept vehicle is dedicated for Volkswagen, it’s a Vision Gran Turismo project where you don’t need a pilot, it’s an unmanned vehicle.

The brief for this project was to design a cool GT Vision concept for Volkswagen. Our first realization was that, in a game, you control a pilot that controls a vehicle. While being realistic, it’s not really immersive, so we decided to get rid of the pilot and make an unmanned vehicle instead.

Gran Turismo 6 is a good platform for the brands to show their know-how but it’s also a video game so it has no limits. We, then, decided to use futuristic technologies like a xenon thruster (ionic engine) and supercapacitors to power the vehicle, Coandă effect to lift the vehicle and reduce air drag and laser wheels for frictionless steering. It also features sensors (G Force, temperature, altitude, inclination, etc…), 3D cameras and rear rotating wings for steering and airbraking.

Having no pilot, we were able to design an extremely aerodynamic vehicle, with long flat horizontal volumes, which echoes Volkswagen’s current DNA. Indeed, they have a strong desire to optimize and reduce the Cx of their vehicles, just like the XL-1, for ultimate efficiency. Nevertheless, we didn’t want to have anything like a grille or regular headlights but instead wanted to bring new features that could inspire new ways of designing their vehicles. That’s why, when it’s off, the INFINITE becomes a sculpture showing the design direction Volkswagen is heading to.

Keeping this in mind, Paul decided that the world need radical designed vehicle that is affordable, fun to drive, and super economical.

Elio motor offers you personal transportation alternative, a compact and practical car to drive you around the city. Manufactured in USA, Elio can reach 84 MPG (highway) or 49 MPG in the city. Safety is also the main priority when designing this vehicle, Elio meets highest safety standards for a car, it comes with 3 airbags, a reinforced roll-cage frame, Anti-Lock braking system, and 50-percent larger crush zones compared to similar vehicles.

Boosted Dual+ Electric Skateboard – Light to Carry and Fast to Ride

Designing and developing urban transportation is no longer just about utilizing advanced technology, it should also about making electric vehicles affordable and accessible to everyone. Boosted has introduced Boosted Dual+, it’s an electric skateboard powered by 2000 watt twin brushless-dc motors. The new upgraded and tuned software allows this board to increase its torque and top speed, the result is pretty amazing and powerful electric longboard ever built. It features custom controlled speed and power settings, making it easy for you to learn to ride this board.

This board is able to reach a speed up to 22mph and can climb an amazing 25% grade. The lithium iron phosphate battery can be charged pretty fast in only 90-minutes. You can use the remote to move this electric longboard, the company has done extensive researches to ensure their custom motor controller provides smooth acceleration, braking, and throttle feedback. Each of loaded deck used is made in California out of 100% bamboo.

Cadilac Estill Super Car Concept by Ondrej Jirec

Cadilac Estill super car project was born out of the idea of re-designing the classic Cadillac brand with futuristic touch. You can read Ondrej Jirec explanation about this project below.

The desired result was to create a concept that maintains clues from the history of the Cadillac brand and introduces a futuristic and fresh vision. The history clues were a fuselage suspended between two long body sides – a good example is the 1970 Cadillac Eldorado. Taking this pure form study, stripping down from all details, and taking it as a building theme for the whole concept, those were the main inspiration for the development of this concept.

The project was designed to respect these three rules:

  1. Links to the history of the Cadillac brand, but is not “retro”.
  2. It is recognizable as a modern Cadillac but pushes the design language further.
  3. Looks futuristic and conceptual, but not as a video game car.

The interior layout is built around the driver experience. The passenger seat is pushed slightly back so the driver can reach the feeling of being in a true race car, inspired by the Cadillac Le Mans heritage.

FIAKER 2.0 Advanced Carriage by Michael Hofbauer

FIAKER 2.0 Advanced Carriage is the answer to the challenge of designing contemporary and ecological concept transportation that offers the typical feeling of a coach tour. This concept carriage combines the best of both world, traditional value with modern technology. Traditional coach tours are a big business in many cities around the world, thanks to tourists, or other special events such as birthdays and marriages. Horse-draw carriage tours have been long targeted by government because the cities have to deal with the amount of manure produced by those horses. It creates urban street pollution, during wet weather, the streets can turn into rivers of muck while during dry weather, the manure turns to dust, choking pedestrians and coating buildings.

Fiaker 2.0 Advanced Carriage is hoped to address 2 main topics here, instead of stopping the tours, why not creating an environmentally friendly transportation that still carries the traditional characteristic of horse-drawn carriage. This concept carriage is the solution of street pollution produced by coach tours in busy city streets, it catches horse manure as you can see from the images below.

From the outside, it looks just like any other car, but the inside that counts, it is filled with futuristic technology to make our driving experience as comfortable as possible. HMS Illustrious Royal Navy’s Iconic Aircraft Carrier Redesigned to Serve All Nations of Commonwealth

Together, BMT Nigel Gee (BMT) and Sigmund Yacht Design have conceived a stunning a design concept to re-develop Royal Navy’s Iconic Aircraft Carrier. HMS Illustrious will be withdrawn from naval service this year. Officially, the UK Ministry of Defence has stated that the ship will be preserved after leaving service and any innovative proposals from private companies or organizations are welcome.

According to James Roy, yach design director at BMT Nigel Gee, it’s really important to preserve this iconic vessel, thus, they have come up with the idea of “Commonwealth Yacht”. It’s a great way to re-purpose the yacht, it will be able to serve all nations of the Commonwealth as a vehicle for promoting trade, attending international events, or doing disaster relief work around the globe.

Redesigning Commercial Aircraft by Shabtai Hirshberg Means A Greener Future For The Aviation Industry

Shabtai Hirshberg has recently graduated from Transportation Design MFA program at the College for Creative Studies (CCS) in Detroit, Michigan. His thesis “Redesigning Commercial Aircraft” was based on extensive research on the commercial aviation market, the result was innovative aircraft with revolutionary improvement, forward thinking design, future technology that were all incorporated into our future commercial aircraft design.

As we already know, commercial aviation is a rapid growing market and it’s been predicted that it will have at least 100% increase in number of flights by the time we reach 2030. The fact that fuel price keeps on increasing, we can tell that airlines business has become less profitable, and the result is most airlines will make major cutbacks such as reducing passengers comfort by reducing legroom.

Black Jack GT Car by Yaroslav Yakovlev

Black Jack GT car has been designed as design study to learn about engineering package design by Yaroslav Yakovlev. The project goal is to learn the possibility of designing innovative exterior car design that blends very well with its engine. The style surface was inspired by previous Ferrari Enzo 2060 project of this automotive designer that boasts characteristics of Italian car and sci-fi flying car. Black Jack GT car design was based on Enzo except that Black Jack GT is meant to be driven like a normal car. Another goal of this project is to provide everyone who wants to drive sports car other than Ferrari or Bentley or Lambo.

The Black Jack GT name came from the spirit of Monte-Carlo casino, the combination of dark gray and red, the crazy excitement of card games as well as the color combination of black and red.

Maininki Concept Car Was Inspired by A Swell and A Drop Of Water

Maininki has been designed to meet the transportation demand, varying distances and seasons in Nordic countries. A luxury sedan yet compact as a hatchback that offers an environmental option is needed. From the start of designing this car, the designer had the idea of creating a form that follows a combination of organic and fluid arches. The second consideration was aerodynamics. Wheels are positioned at the outer most corners of the vehicle for ideal handling and superb weight distribution to increase safety in higher traveling speeds.

The front end shape pushes most of the air flow to the top of the car and rest of it underneath. The underbody is shaped to resemble a diffuser. It creates enough downforce without any added spoilers on the top of the body. The air intakes situated on the sides of the car are mostly aerodynamical. They force the air flow to pass the rear tires from their sides to minimize the wind resistance. The same air flow keeps the rear electric motors and brakes in the Michelin Active Wheels cooled.

The main visual object of the exterior is the strong contrast between black and white. The dark glass starting from the front end gives a fresh and modern feel next to the calm, white rear end of the car.

Smart : An Electric Car Featuring Almost Everything That Traditional Electric Cars Usually Miss

To make the title realistic, I would like to start with speed that most electric cars usually are deficient in. Smart electric car concept can go 0 to 60 km/h in just 5.5 seconds which gets up to 120 km/h through its powerful 30kW magneto-electric motor. Moreover, the boost function can give an additional 5kW of power with a simple press in the boost button for more speed. A conventional 220 volt socket can charge the car up to 80 percent in just 45 minutes and a fully charged battery ensures 125 kilometers of continuous drive. Additionally, the wind deflector features photovoltaic cells to lengthen the battery life.

Speedway Is An Efficient Traffic System That Incorporates And Takes Out The Most From The Compact Electric Car

To ensure smooth commuting for the future, designing a compact and electric powered car is not enough. Available and next generation electric cars lack the ability for long range drives. But without this ability most car owners won´t switch from oil to electric.

The Speedway system creates an update for the existing infrastructure to improve the range an speed of common and electric cars. This update consists of a linear motor beneath the street surface. The motor works contact-free which allows an implementation without changing the upper surface of the road. Everybody can keep using their normal cars or change to the speedway System by using an adapter for their old car.

This means you can use an electric car that covers about 90 percent of your common commutes with a range of about 120 miles. At the times you need more range you drive on the freeway or Autobahn and link into the speedway system. You travel on the system with the power of magnetic waves and also get your battery loaded while driving.

The Insight foot care scale helps diabetic patient to spot the first symptom of foot irregularities and stop its rapid rise in amputations. There is a large LED display where the consumers can see their weight by stepping on the scale. Simultaneously, the system makes beep sound and lights up the mirrors in the scale through Cue Light Technology to remind the users to check their feet. Renault Picnic Zero-Emissions Concept Car Provides Room for Social Gathering

When people goes for a picnic, a car that can provide room for social gathering parked in an urban landscape is always desirable, which was the main inspiration of designing the Renault Picnic concept car. This car can become an urban furniture, where people can re-acquaint themselves with the surrounding natural environment with its various functionalities. It features LED-impregnated DOL that allows adjustable and customizable tinting patterns that will make the car’s surface a public art. The easy access sliding doors allow convenient entrance. You can attach a bicycle with the rear bumper and can arrange some extra sittings with tailgate rumble seats that slides-out from the front trunk. The Renault Picnic features low-cost and minimalist dashboard with i-pod compatibility which is ideal for new drivers. The modular seating arrangement of this car ensures equal comfort to be enjoyed for all passengers either inside, on atop the rear bumpers or on the front tailgate.
