REEM-C Humanoid Robot Design For PAL Robotics’ Contest

When it comes to designing humanoid robot, your robot should look consistent from head to bottom. There are some dos and don’ts rules as well as various styles and approaches. Plasticpals tried to apply those rules for PAL Robotics’ contest to design their forthcoming humanoid robot, REEM-C.

REEM-C has a beautiful helmet that can be used to conceal the microphones. The face has been designed to be minimalist since not any of PAL Robotics’ earlier robot designs have integrated eyelids, brows or lips. The REEM-C logo serves as the chief indicator light and aids to brand the robot; however, it can change color in order to signify the robot’s internal status. Its shoulder joints are capable of rolling 90 degrees into this position even without the upper arm stabbing on the shoulder. Since the fingers are covered in semi-translucent rubber, they appear to be in lighter color.

IDEA (International Design Excellence Awards) 2012 Opens for Entries

To all our fellow designers, starting this month International Design Excellence Awards or also known as IDSA has opened its door for submissions. IDSA challenges all designers to design and develop unique and innovative product that will improve our daily life and experiences. Design touches people every minute of every day. If you think you are a designer that constantly invents new ideas to create the future rather than the one you are handed, then why not answer this challenge?

“The IDEA program is referred as the ‘Oscars’ of industrial design. Why? Because IDEA is not influenced by the organization that hosts them, IDSA. Leading designers in the profession judge the awards in a peer review process. It is the task of the jury to determine what the conditions for excellence are. Over the past two years that definition has been radically changing in line with design’s changing position in corporations,” said Clive Roux, CEO of IDSA.

To enter this contest, you can visit IDSA Website here.

Egochine B : Astonishing One-Seater Imagined And Created For The Self-Centered One

At first glance it looks as if it has been pulled out of a Sci-Fi movie, but the retro-futuristic design lines and the asymmetrical body shape, makes us wonder what was the designer’s main idea. The Egochine B is a car for the petrol-head of tomorrow. The man that likes to drive by himself, to feel the speed and the wind tearing of his face, the one that loves to go from point A to point B in the shortest time possible and in the most exquisite style. A man that is self-centered, a man that probably is the most concerned about the passengers safety, that chooses to drive alone then to put other people’s lives in jeopardy. Paolo De Guisti, the man behind the Egochine B, redesigned the immature and primitive shapes of the first version of this vehicle, that was among the finalists in the second design contest organized by Peugeot, into a more aggressive, stunning and elegant finish.

Capca, Space-Saving and Environmentally Friendly Car Concept

Capca car concept is created for Peugeot Design Contest 2008: Imagine the Peugeot in the Worldwide Megalopolis of Tomorrow. Too bad, this car concept wasn’t accepted by Peugeot, but we still think that this is pretty cool car concept. What will city infrastructure and city transport, parking and fueling be like in the near future? Let’s take a look at your city from the height of a skyscraper, what will you see? There are green areas and water pools, round shape streets and austere simplicity of architecture, streams of hi-tech eco-vehicles and eye appealing blossoms of parked cars. You’d be glad to know that parking lots filled up with cars now produce oxygen so necessary for life. No more smog and polluted air, no more packed buses and fussy crowds with capca car concept.
