The Helios system is an automatic lighting system designed to help the elderly live a healthier life through healthier lighting. According to experts, the two major health problems facing the elderly today are falls and bad quality of sleep. The products required for the system are a wall sconce, night light and a system-specific light switch. To address these two problems, a dual-stage approach is required. First, a night lighting system utilizing motion sensors allows seniors to move around at night without having to turn on the bright primary lights. Second, a series of daytime lighting therapies helps readjust the body’s clock so that seniors can get to sleep at a healthier time and sleep through the night more comfortably and soundly.

CURVE Extreme Sport is a new skateboard concept that creates a racing sport on skateboard. The skateboard design has a pair of Motor GP-inspired tires that taper on both ends to allow the rider to make sharp turns during a high speed down-hill race. Toyota Winglet is a prototype of future personal transportation, Toyota motors has come up with their version of walking assistant. Named as Winglet, it’s a personal transport assistant and is ridden in standing position. It has an electric motor, two wheels and an internal sensor for monitoring the user position. The unique parallel link mechanism allows the users to go forward, backward, and it turns by a simple shift of body weight, thus it comes handy even in crowded places. It ensures stability by making power adjustments and sure is one good walking assistant and suits the purpose for moving around safely and freely. Innovation in personal transportation is good, but this kind of transport will make our generation less walk and fatter.

Architects of UNStudio have come up with their competition winning redevelopment and extremely fabulous structure of a former post office in Rotterdam. This building is approximately 44.000 m2 in surface. This is surely going to be a historical monument in the city of Rotterdam, The Netherlands. This monument will include a vertical entrance and a 100m high tower featuring a luxury hotel with several facilities such as conferences, offices, cafes, bars, restaurants, and retail facilities etc. The project will most probably end by the year 2012 and creates a sustainable development which integrates a ‘Green Shopping’ experience for people and also offers a new urban look for the city.

The new Copenhagen aquarium is expected to be a marvel in the contemporary water front architecture. It has been named as ‘The Blue Planet’ and is scheduled to be opened in 2013. It has been designed by Danish architects 3XN who had given their ‘Whirlpool’ concept wherein the whole concept was inspired by nature and sea. The location of the project is on the island of Amager near Copenhagen Airport and the airline passengers will have a complete aerial view of the structure. This design sure has traffic stopping looks.
