The decanter design by Denmark based designer, Matilda Sunden Ringner which is called Rainman is designed in a manner that water is transported from the container to the drinking glass. The decanter is unique as it has eight holes which facilitate its usage when the wine is poured, and the placement of holes also gives it a unique visual appeal and identity. Besides this, the holes also help in decanting the wine while preventing the ice and pieces of lemon to fall into the glass as one pours the content. A nice and a classy thought one must say, which can be used for our every day usage!

The new project named as Smoker bench, is as the name signifies a place where the smokers can smoke and socialize in peace without a hassle. The bench consisting of a two side sitting area with supporting pillars, which double up as containers to flip the ash or disposing the cigarette stubs. The designer has put to use the connecting portion between the two pillars as grass can be grown adding to the visual feel. Also it helps in promoting the clean and green message to all those who spend time there, although in a silent manner. The main aim of this place is to provide a unique public place for smoker and protect the non-smoker at the same time.

The new housing design by U.S. based student Craig Mackiewicz is known as the Transportable Emergency Dwelling. It is simply a house built within the footprint of a shipping container and is a unique solution to low cost housing. Each container can easily accommodate two families with scope for extending the space by pulling the compartments and tents. Also each unit has basic utilities required for a normal family daily needs like kitchen, bathroom, storage space etc.The designer has also kept in mind the rain water harvesting by keeping a slant roof having a capacity to conserve 350 gallons of water; even the solar energy is conserved to provide electricity. So all in all, it’s a unique solution for tomorrow’s housing needs.

Treepac eco friendly packaging concept has won a Silver International Design Excellence Award (IDEA) in EcoDesign category. With its structure made entirely of sustainable materials, a great effort towards greener earth, I think they do deserve the award. The Public, West Bromwich, England is a new arts building designed by architect Will Alsop. As per the architect, the building is born out of the thought that for renewing a generation, architecture can act as a catalyst. It inspires new ideas from the creative users and in itself the building signifies the creators’ belief in art. It has five levels and the building caters to various creative heads to explore their creativity. It’s intended to be a center for people to take part in art projects, and also engaging in learning wide range of skills and subjects, with special emphasis being given to IT and digital arts.
