Samsung has organized young design award for the third time this year aiming to find out the creativity of young Italian design students focusing on sustainable and functional digital household solutions to improve the living quality of the future civilization. Following are the 9 finalist projects that was exhibited in the award ceremony held at Triennial in Milan.

The WHY yacht is a concept yacht dedicatedly focused on bringing luxury living lifestyle on the sea through offering maximum durability, space and cutting-edge technologies at every single turn. The yacht is contained in a triangle shaped hull measuring 58 x 38 meter and the interior is furnished with water resistant buffalo leather with calpinage technique. Aside from the 25 meter long seawater pool on the bow, the boat creates a completely flat water surface behind it, similar to an Olympic-size pool where boarders can swim in peace. The boat is powered by a diesel electric engine and a central computer manages the different sources of energy. Moreover, about 900 square meters of photovoltaic surface panel generates a part of the energy that is required to subsist the boat.

Dyson Energy is a concept device with the shape of a bracelet, specially designed to resolve the everyday problem associated with charging your mobile phones on the go. This surface of this device produces electricity in the ambient air and stores in a Li-Po battery that can be used later to charge your mobile phone. The innovative Seebeck effect allows to keep the temperature difference between the outer surface and the other part that remains in touch with the skin. Autonomous Living Unit has been demonstrated last April for the first time in the Future Cities exhibition occurred in New York City which is a concept chair with a unique look that integrates all the functions that a home may have into a single chair. This concept is outlined by imagining the furniture that could be fitted in derelict buildings to provide the fundamental needs of human being. This project symbolizes the current housing crisis due to the tendency of people to live on their own and the tradition of transforming architecture into consumer products. In fact, this concept product shows the visually alluring yet most minimal objects that still can provide the basic needs of human being.

Spiral is a fascinating concept structure that can be compared with the nature and universe. The concept is to design a Tramway as a combined element leaving out-of-the-way the idea of interior and exterior. Integrating all the parts is the main intention, opening up in the way the inner side to the outer. This structure embraces the inner side with the outer, working as a unifying nexus. All the working elements of the interior emerge from this structure and the outer design is also dictated by it. Thus, the designer created a profound communication between all its elements. This vehicle gets the inspiration by the spiral because of not only what it symbolizes or its dynamism, but also due to the transmission sensations.
