AWWA-VA Gigabay Cargo Airplane by Oscar Viñals

We usually see Jet or Space craft designs from Oscar Viñals, this time, he has submitted a concept cargo airplane. You can read his detail description about this project below.

AWWA-VA “GIGAbay” is a concept of a “green” cargo airplane for this 21st century, based primary on its high ratio of eco-friendly purpose and its big versatile capacity to adapt to many working environment. Thanks to its advanced systems and materials, it makes this cargo:

  • Energy efficient
  • Fewer emissions
  • Less aircraft noise until 30% compared with current standards
  • Big capacity of cargo with a volume of 2,303m3 and more than 220 tons of payload, with an internal advanced and active fuselage system
  • Capable to generate “green” power, thanks to superconductivity technology, fuel cell stack, wind generators, and solar energy
  • Equipped with 4 Hybrid engines – electric / fuel & two electric engines
  • Less damages in a hypothetical emergency landing with “auto-break” wings system
  • Less drag and weight (increasing the payload cargo)
  • Less fuel consumption and damaging emissions

AWWA-VA GIGAbay is the version for cargo transport of the AWWA “Sky Whale” concept plane, with similar base. It would be equipped with a new advanced technologies from alloys, ceramic or fiber composites, carbon nanotube and fiber optic cabling, smart materials (SMA), Hybrid & E-engines (E-e), active wings with wind generators inside. It is capable to create electric energy with micro solar cells in hexagonal geometry like a part of structure’s ceiling or through two big electromagnetic generators named W.E.R.D.S. (wind energy recovery duct system) based in superconductivity technology and fuel cell stack –Hydrogen- that transforms the air flow in energy.

The airplane’s fuselage offers a big compartment to have a maximum volume of cargo in order to transport huge items, for example sections of commercial airplanes, like two Airbus A350 XWB’s sections or 4 EC-725 Super Puma copters. The cargo bay provides a volume of 2,303m3 and depending on its configuration (versatility) would have the cargo’s distribution in two decks to carry more than 220 tons of weight. The bay could be equipped with a crane of double rail capable to move items up to 30 tons along the cargo bay. It also features an adaptable and mobile platform to carry up the cargo.

nThree Electric Vehicle Offers The Comfort of A Car with The Cost of An E-Bike

nThree electric vehicle aims to provide you with affordable, personal vehicle that features the comfort of a car yet with the cost of an e-bike. It sounds pretty ambitious and interesting, doesn’t it? Let’s read what these designers have to say about the project.

Following the recent electric revolution of lightweight vehicles around the world, the nThree is a new design, following the very successful nCycle e-bike concept. With the irreversible process of global economies turning towards renewable energy, the way we see and use the city has already changed and is set to do so dramatically in the next few years.

With our increased awareness and sensitivity towards energy consumption, courtesy among others of the most recent economic crisis, in the last 4-5 years, personal transportation has begun a slow but steady drift away from the model we have come to know in the past century. The 10s and hundreds of new e-bikes and electric cars like the Renault Twizy or Toyota i-Road have shown the way to a more personal and conscious approach. Our new concept builds on the characteristics and refines the strengths of these vehicles to bring electric power even closer to the mass market.

Small electric cars, tricycles and quadricycles all suffer from the same inherent drawback; they are meant to be cheap and affordable but they end up being expensive like real cars because they are BUILT like real cars. The mission on the nThree was to address these conceptual and design shortcomings and design an affordable, single-seat electric vehicle that would offer all (or most) of the comforts of an electric car at the cost of an e-bike.

To achieve the objectives, the nThree electric vehicle was built with a simplistic approach reminiscent on the nCycle. In first place, the vehicle was reduced to the most essential stable geometry of three wheels to reduce cost. Even though the latest small electrics are a great way to move around the urban areas, there is something about these offerings that does not look great at all: Price. Starting from about 7000 Euros and above these 1-2 seaters cost almost as much as a cheap standard car and more than many used ones in good condition.

Lambo Yacht by Mauro Lecchi Design Was Inspired by Lamborghini Sports Cars

Mauro Lecchi’s design of Lambo style yacht concept earned huge reputation with its impressive performance and stylish aesthetics. The design of this exclusive yacht takes inspiration from Lamborghini sports cars. Fenice Milano, the same team who worked for those Fiats and Rolls-Royce has been asked to work for the interior. Housing a twin 700 hp Volvo Penta IPS 900 diesels together with a twin 950 hp Seatek diesels and a triple 550 hp V12 – 60° Lamborghini petrol engine, the Lambo Style yacht is well-known for its fast ride. The interior of the yacht houses a full beam room for the owner and a guest bedroom as well. With that said, lets wait and watch for the next release.

Mob Sports Car Is Made From Liquid Wood

The Mob is an extreme racing sports car proposal for Toyota by Jorge Martí Vidal, an automotive designer. This concept car is evolving into the Möbius strip. Two films that create the whole structure of the vehicle, external and internal, forming the seats and dashboard. In order to make the driver feel enraptured by the sensation of car racing, the central area of this car is made transparent where the driver can see the ground really close. The wheels imitate the shape of blooming flowers. Mob is made from “Liquid Wood”, organic materials that come from waste wood and can be molded into different shapes. The dimension of this vehicle is : 3643x1787x1063mm, each wheel is equipped with electric motor as its engine; thus making this vehicle an eco friendly racing car.

Futuristic Enigma Car Concept with Bio-Electric Hybrid Technology by Paul Howse

The futuristic Enigma car project is intended to represent the height of automotive exclusivity. You could argue that the only thing that separates one Veyron or Phantom from the other is the color and trim that the first owner specifies from new, whereas with Enigma, the patination of the bronze on the roof of the car would develop with the owner over time. When the car is sold to its next owner, it would be taken back to the factory, the body panels removed and would be retained as a piece of automotive sculpture for their beautiful landscaped gardens. The next owner would get a new piece of bronze to start their own story. Paul Howse, the designer, really wanted it to be like a sculpture on wheels, a work of art.

Solar Powered Fresnel Hydrofoil Trimaran Features Folding Wingsail

Margot Krasojević has submitted her latest design, it’s a solar powered, hydrofoil Fresnel Hydrofoil Trimaran. This trimaran features a folding wingsail to allow better lift-to-drag ratio. The frame of the sail features mechanical structure similar to an airplane wing, constructed from carbon fiber with a retractable Kevlar sail covered in aero-nautical film. The sail has the ability to rotate around the mast and those series of motorized creases help to catch the wind. The wingsail is actuated by motors that control all those movements using solar cells and wind energy.

The multi-hull wingsail design looks like overwhelming, but it actually doesn’t carry a heavy ballast that might slow down the vessel because all materials used are strong yet ultra light. There’s a triangulated woven polyester mesh trampoline with a vinyl coating runs the length of the Trimaran, it is connected to the wingsail that wraps itself into the main composite carbon fibre hull. The frame of this trampoline also functions as a water piercer with a heavy ensuring a smoother ride. The wind flows over wingsail and uplift drives the Trimaran forward.

This CRM System combines elastic fabric electrodes and comfortable knit fabric to provide sternum support and monitor heart rate variability (HRV). The minimalist design of this functional monitor allows it to be comfortably and discreetly concealed under the clothes of the wearer. The system uses Bluetooth to transmit signals to an app, which allows users to independently manage their health. This CRM System has passed the required bio-compatibility (ISO10993-5, -10) and electrical safety (EN606061-1) tests, and has been granted CE safety certification.

Espresso Urban Bike is designed specifically for urban living in Asian cities. The frame geometry of Gearlab’s Espresso caters to East Asian proportions, ensuring a comfortable and confident ride for Asian owners. The choice of smaller wheels with 20-inch rims means the bike accelerates faster, an essential function in the stop-and-go traffic systems typical in Asian cities. These small wheels also make the bike easier to carry in and out of tight living spaces. The bike is comfortable and has a place for bags and personal belongings, a simple locking solution, and stunning aesthetics.

Modern office lighting consumes far more energy than is actually necessary. A well designed office lighting system can provide an efficient light source for a working environment. All lights in the FO-1103 Office Series are made from aluminum, are adjustable, and are minimalist in design. The angle of the light and the color temperature can be adjusted by remote control. The FO-1103-P is a dexterous pendant light: the body of the lamp can rotate upwards to 180 degrees and downwards to 15 degrees. The lighting mode is flexible and can be adjusted to suit the usage needs of any given space. Available modes include down lighting, centralized lighting, two-directional lighting, and indirect lighting.

Here I Am turns a 2D post-it note into a 3D note through folding. The space saved in the folding process creates more writing areas and enhances the efficiency of the product. The triangle shapes are sticky on all sides, and no matter where they are used, they are easy to find. Here I Am was developed to improve working and noting efficiency.

The wooden model, Panda, is engaging from the moment the package is opened until the final pieces are fitted together. The toy combines humor, ingenuity, and art to bring pleasure to the senses while at the same time rewarding the maker with a feeling of accomplishment. Through innovative design practices and making use of mechanical principles, the finished Panda springs into life when a crank is turned. The automata is made from precision-cut, environmentally friendly materials and can be assembled without having to use glue or sharp tools. The latest technology is used to manufacture the curved parts from reconstituted wood. The model can be assembled by people of all ages: the process of building Panda by hand encourages patience and focus.

To have a device that then allows us to view those images and those videos in a format that is outside of our screen is really in demand. They’ve managed to squeeze a lot of technology into a very small footprint. It’s a very intuitive little product as well. I could pick it up, switch it on, and within seconds I was operating it. There was no instruction book and the interface was in Chinese, but it was intuitive enough that I could still use it and to me that’s a sign of good design.”

The SYL958 Loader features an edgeless door cab design; a built-in, integral Roll Over Protective Structures (ROPS) and Falling Object Protective Structures (FOPS) design; a visualization central electrical box; and a Parker fingertip operating system. The cab is sealed against the intrusion of dust to protect the health of the operator, and noise is reduced to a level 6 dB lower than other machines in China. A two-stage damper system with four-point suspended installation guarantees a comfortable operating experience. Daily service and maintenance points can be easily reached from the ground. The service life of key components is improved with the inclusion of an advanced technology DANA rotor type gearbox, a drive axle for heavy mining machines, and a reinforced heavy-duty vehicle body structure. An efficient fixed-variable confluence high-pressure system results in energy reductions of over 10 percent. Chute stowable bag can be a great emergency bag when needed. A simple pulling gesture of its cord collapses this reusable bag, easy and efficient. The bottom of this bag has been lined with carbon fiber tubes, so when you fill this bag with your stuff or groceries, the bag can hold its structure to keep your contents safe. When you pull the aluminum handle, the built-in cord running through the internals of the bag pull silynylon, carbon fiber tubes and grommets all together into a compact form.

Nissan Guardian concept was an all-terrain vehicle design proposal for Yu-lon Nissan’s “Future Car Concept Design” in Taiwan. These automotive designers will take you to the year of 2030 where MRT system will be completely developed in major countries. Driving a car will become a sport or a recreational activity. Inspired by a leopard which can quickly adapt to its environment, the shape of this future vehicle has been designed to mimic the posture of a leopard rushes forward.

1. Embrace Infant Warmer by Linus Liang (United States of America), Naganand Murty (India), Rahul Panicker (India) and Jane Chen (United States of America)

Each year, there are around 20 million babies born prematurely, and 4 million of them die. Babies’ lives can be used by providing them with thermal regulation from incubators. However, traditional incubators are expensive and required electricity which usually not available in urban/rural areas. Embrace infant warmer is a smart and cost-effective technology that provides heat to an infant at a constant temperature to fulfill a condition for survival. It’s been carefully engineered to maintain baby’s temperature at consistent 37 degrees for around 4-6 hours even without electricity.

2. PURE by Timothy Whitehead (United Kingdom)
PURE is the answer of how to get clean drinking water in the most hostile of conditions. After traveling to Zambia, Timothy realized that how difficult to get the clean water there, mostly children die each year due to contaminated drinking water. Timothy has designed a device that can provide clean drinking water in just under 2 minutes by taking advantage of ultra violet light to sterilize the water without any weird taste. One-Person Hybrid Vehicle For Recreational Use by Facundo Elias

This futuristic vehicle is an excellent one-hybrid vehicle developed mainly to carry 2 different technologies including one for combustion and other one for an electric. In terms of the vehicle’s internal combustion engine, it features 160 cc 4-stroke, overhead valve, and a horsepower of 5.5hp at 3600rpm with centrifugal grip of Chinese origin and a 4 liter gas tank. With the electric motor operating at 48 volts with a torque of 30Nm and an efficiency of 69%, it requires nearly 6 hours of connection to 220 volts to be recharged. The vehicle features a range of 4 hours in continuous use while both the engines are running at the same moment.

This hybrid transportation has been constructed using alloy steel with no compromises to its original structure. To hide every functional component and safeguard the user from temperature materials and fluids, fairings were developed that envelops the cockpit and shields the user from side collisions that are absorbed by it. Well, the chair is made out of fiberglass and recycled leather, which helps prevent bruises over the lower back.

Skylifter Can Move Nearly Anything To Anywhere

In the future, we can literally move a building from one place to another. SkyLifter a buoyant aircraft makes it possible to vertically raise and set down payloads, almost anything and anywhere. This piloted dirigible gas balloon system is not designed to fly as fast as jets and rotor craft, instead its main function is the unique heavy airlift capability. Skylifter provides payload capability over 15 times the lifting capacity of an S-64 Skycrane helicopter. It can move a hospital/clinic to provide temporary full service facilities in remote locations or move a luxury resort in exotic places where permanent buildings are not permitted.

Audi A9 Concept Starts The Competition In The New Created Luxury Sedan Segment

The Audi A9 is a futuristic proposal for a luxury sport sedan which, in Audi’s car fleet, will be positioned higher than the Audi A8 flagship and will be aimed at the luxury sedan segment which includes models such as Porsche Panamera and the Lamborghini Estoque Concept. The designer, Daniel Garcia, found his inspiration in the architectural designs of Santiago Calatrava’s buildings in “La Ciudad de las Artes y Ciencias” meaning The City Of Arts And Sciences which can be found in Valencia, the designers hometown. This strong influence can be seen in the clean flowing lines of the vehicle and futuristic styling features. Calatrava’s buildings look like they come from 100 years in the future.

The A9 concept has amazing features and yet to be discovered revolutionary materials. The windscreen and roof are integrated into a single piece, created using an advanced nano-technology material, which features a self-repairing system and allows for adjustments in color and opacity. The bodywork adapts an electronic painting system which allows the owner to change the color at the touch of a button. Another interesting feature of this structure is that is deformable, meaning it provides greater protection for the passengers than a glass windscreen, in a collision. The proposed drive train is a hybrid setup which uses an internal combustion engine working in conjunction with 4 in-wheel electric motors. This concept is the key to future car design, manufacturing technology, safety standards and user experience.

JS Bach Chamber Music Hall by Zaha Hadid Architects

The JS Bach Chamber Music Hall is a brilliant concept design installed at Manchester Art Gallery in order to house musical performances. The hall is built on a steel structure covered with a transparent fabric membrane suspended form the ceiling which divides and encloses the space aside from creating a stage, area for audience and passages for in and out of the hall. Above the stage, clear and acrylic panes are suspended, offering perfect disperse and reflect of sound. A massive ribbon swirls within the hall is carving out a visual and spatial response to the obscure relationships of Bach’s harmonies. Since the ribbon staggers above the performer and cascades into the ground along with wraps around the listeners, the original box shaped room is quite absent, rather, only fluid spaces are visible that are swelling, slipping and merging through one another. The design surely will enhance the diversity of Bach’s work via a coherent structural and formal logic integration.
