BWM finally showed off its two-mode hybrid system (the first BMW with two-mode hybrid system) at Frankfurt Motorshow, the idea behind this concept car is “merging the athletic aesthetics of a true sports car with the versatility of an SAV resulted in a new vehicle category that so far has not been realised” as stated on the bmw website. Quoted from Chris Bangle as Chief of Design for BMW Group about bmw concept x6 : “a good concept realizes itself in a short amount of time”. There is no official technical statement from BMW about this BMW X6, but the hybrid system expected to improve fuel efficiency by 20 percent. This car was only a concept till now, I believe this is going to be the basic of the next model bmw car.

After BMW promoting their iDrive system, Audi introduced us with one of their own, the big knob seems like one device to control them all. Located near the driver, it was mend to make the driver easily control infotainment system without even looking. Its stylist design makes perfect combination with the luxury interior design (some of you might think what’s the point, we don’t see it anyway). So what do you think ?

BMW and Mercedes would have to struggle for lower emissions and higher fuel efficiency. With European CAFE regulations, measured in tailpipe CO2 emissions rather than fuel economy, also getting much tighter, Germany’s luxury automakers, too, are feeling the heat from global warming. Even Audi which can average out its CO2 figures across the entire VW Group portfolia, feeling the pressure to build more fuel-efficient cars and smaller body.
Audi management has settled on a strategy of making its 2009 A2 a straightforward subcompact with mass appeal, rather than leftfield, like the Gen I aluminum A2. This would be key rival for BMW and Mercedes if they bring it to USA, since they offer more interior space than a Mini. The 2009 A2 won’t have a unique platform, but will use the VW subcompact underpinnings, like the Polo, with gasoline engines ranging from 1.2 to 1.8 liters, plus diesels.
Do you think that you can have both the luxury of a car and a yacht ? If your answer is no, then think again, because that combination might happen sometimes in the future. BMW Designworks USA has worked with Belgian boatbuilder Zeydon to produce a 60-foot clas yacht, perhaps BMW will use the term of ‘Luxury Sports Cruiser’, since BWM usually refers to luxury SUV. This yacht is designed to fulfill the desire of having luxury yachting and great performance sailing.
