Mantra is an automated life saving system concept aiming to tackle the beach safety issues that usually causes drowning casualties such as slow response time, inadequate surveillance, lack of lifeguard safety, and limitation of lifeguards as human. The Mantra concept contains small hairs with embedded electro sensors that detect distress and drowning people and swims up automatically to the spot. The victim them picked up carefully onto the built-in stretcher and it carries him or her on top of the water by using impellers and hydrofoils. There is always constant communication between the Mantra and beach lifeguards through which it carries the victim to a specified beach location where ambulance and medical team remains stand-by.

Nowadays, concept designers are concentrating on delivering better products which not just look good but also address many of the essential concerns that the user has. Spurt is a bicycle trailer designed to satisfy the parents and children alike. The concept ensures that it’s far beyond its good looks as it also ensures the basic needs of riding a bicycle like agility, safety, and comfort. The design addresses the problem of poor vehicle handling, as the overall construction makes it easier to maneuver and handle just as a normal bicycle with the difference being that the passenger sits inside the wheel on the floating seat. Thus, the rider can concentrate on riding the bicycle rather than concentrating on the passenger!

For regular travelers, the worst part is carrying their heavy luggage with difficulty and discomfort. Roozbeh Mousavi of Art Center College of Design has come up with a Rolling Bag that can be easily carried on uneven pavements, big gaps and bad weather conditions such as snow which makes pulling luggage with small wheels very difficult. Stairs are always a big problem for pulling heavy luggage but with OBAG’s enlarged wheels, anyone can comfortably navigate most difficult terrains.
