COSSACK VZR-C1 “ShockWave” Motorcycle is designed with a V-Twin 800-1000cc in mind… As Russia are trying to promote a New Age Russian revival image I thought it maybe an idea to accompany this image with a modern bike of their own Mother Russia image. In traditional and patriotic colors the “Shock Wave was designed with a Russian and different visual image in mind to state “Not Japanese, Italian or anyone one else but Russian” in mind… Modern because the Russian bikes today I feel are old and just getting older, for a New Age Russia something New is needed to run along side their 40’s BMW based machines, that are not bad bikes but their appeal is let’s say appropriate to the more traditionalists.

Tesla e-Bike : An Electric Motorcycle Design Proposal for Tesla Motors

Tesla e-bike is a conceptual project based on a vision what if Tesla Motors manufactured an electric motorcycle. It is made of carbon fiber, aluminum, and high-strength plastic, making a very light yet durable vehicle. The front suspension features hub-center steering that provides an excellent cornering and good traction. Equipped with OLED dashboard display, you’ll get essential information about your bike at a glance. Just like Tesla principles, this e-bike is high-tech, fast, efficient, and ecological.

KTM Ion Concept Motorcycle for Urban Environment

KTM Ion has been designed to represents KTM’s vision of purity, adventure, performance, and extreme. It’s a modern motorbike for new audience. Currently, KTM motorcycles target relatively small audience, mainly professionals and motorcycle enthusiasts. The task here is to develop electric motorcycle to approach new target groups, urban commuters. This concept motorbike has been designed as a homage to traditional road bikes that use fixed frames without suspension, ION offers an extreme driving experience in urban environment. This new bike is hoped to solve issues related to conventional vehicles and become a lifestyle product that fits our way of living.

Designed and developed for city streets, ION features distinctive exo-structural frame that provides this bike with strength and precision while links it aesthetically to the road bike. The core idea of KTM ION is to blend the powers of fixie bike with technology of an electric motorcycle, but the characteristics of these roots should be kept visible. The essential factors are the fixed frame and the motorcycle heritage.

Kira Hybrid Sailing Yacht Bridges The Gap Between Sailing and Motor Yachting

A 40 meter sailing yacht inspired by performance, developed for simplicity and minimum style. The lead in the keel of the boat was adapted to become a giant battery charged by the solar cells in the sail. The owner could live in complete comfort and with zero carbon footprint.

What makes this an innovative design solution is that the Kira Hybrid Sailing Yacht is a vessel inspired by performance, developed for simplicity, and minimally styled. It is meant to bridge the gap between sailing and motor yachting, so that those who take to the winds can do so in the most comfortable, amenable and sustainable way. It is designed to have a zero carbon footprint because of its electric engine and solar sail giving the owner absolute freedom to roam the seas in complete comfort. The lead in the keel of the boat, which is regularly just used for balance, was adapted to become a giant battery charged by the solar cells in the sail. It completely redefines the layout of a sailboat.

Stylish Givi Motorcycle Top Box Features RFID Key Lock System

Givi motorcycle top box was designed by these industrial designers during their exchange period at Istituto Europeo di Design. This top box project is intended to be used on motorcycles and has to be realistic enough to be released in the market by the year of 2017.

At first, we came up with many ideas that would make this an ambitious target, but during the process we moved toward actual reasonable scenarios and implementing only those features which were likely be available at that time. We had a keen interest to design a product that is sustainable, using biodegradable plastics and making the manufacturing process and recycling process as easy as possible and one of the top box’s main feature and theme is configurability and customizability.

We applied these themes to Givi Motorcycle Top Box both internally and externally, thus the interior has an easy to use compartmentalization feature using elastic rubber bands, while the exterior has customizable rings that can match any motorbike. We decided to use a new lock system with an RFID key to simplify the access to two separate compartments. These compartments have separate purposes, a smaller for easy access for personal things that are essential and a bigger one that has more space. The aggressive angle of the lid was designed to fit with modern and future motorbike trends where the rear end of the bike is also angled, not flat.

E-Board Tracker Bike : A Small, Funny, and Eco Friendly Motorbike

The Eboard Tracker concept doesn’t focus on just a transport vehicle, rather the designer has envisioned it as an eco-friendly, small and funny motorbike that can run at up to 30 mph and ensures better twisting around the corner of the street with its compact and light design. This bike contains hand throttle instead of traditional electric pedaling and features light, simple and optical flowing frame. A beam girder from section-I and hydro-formed tubes welded together in order to strengthen the steering head. The handlebar is shaped like an ace-bar which is fully adjustable and includes a cycle computer on top with speed, battery status and estimated remaining battery capacity readings.

This bike features a very close to “vintage racer” look with its regenerative breaking and a hub battery since they are similar to a set of drum brakes. The chain is swapped for a carbon shaft, bevel drive and nylon hypoid gears enclosed in right swing arm. Behind the pedal shafts, a small six speed cassette type remains hidden and comes operational if the battery becomes flat any time. Both pedals are lockable at 180 degrees and can be used as foot pegs

Slim Ride : Public Transportation System for The City of Auckland

Slim Ride is a driverless, electrical rail system concept based on multiple small cabins with an extremely narrow (1.2m) footprint specifically designed for the city of Auckland. It can adjust to the changing infrastructure requirements offering very limited available public space. It is aimed towards Auckland’s car-focused audience, by offering an iconic and appealing alternative. Local cultural heritage around Maori Wakas and its carvings (Whakarei) influenced the design, it’s a simple, but effective technical solution, based on stock e-mobility components in order to be locally produced rather than imported.

As part of a multi-modal network, this public transport solution explores innovative rail technology trend, which is now slowly implemented globally. After an initial idea around a full network solution, the latest iterations consider pods feeding passengers into larger transport hubs. Oliver Neuland has worked on this visionary project for several years through several evolutional steps as part of his academic design research and as independent consultant (OND). In the past Neuland has also worked on projects for BMW Motorrad, Stadler and Evobus in Germany as an industrial designer.

Superflex Aura Powered Suit Provides Extra Muscle Power for Elderly People

We have so many helpful technology designed specially for an aging population to become independent at home, but the challenge of this project is to give elderly people mobility outside the home. Superflex Aura Powered Suit offers a wearable technology that reacts to body’s natural movements. It gives extra muscle power to complement user’s strength in staying upright, getting up, and sitting down.

Designed to be adoptable and easy to use, this suit is a great daily use for the elderly. Using the principle of biomimicry, this suit configuration is anatomically aligned with natural muscular composition of the user. Considering this suit will be worn by human, comfort was the main priority when designing this suit. Hard technology components such as control boards, motors, and batteries are designed into hexagonal low-profile pods. All these pods are attach to fabric origami fold-ins, allowing movement in 3 dimensions and the hardware to expand without interrupting user’s movements. This system also enables scalable system to adapt to different user muscular needs and heights.

Debuting at Eurobike 2016, this urban transportation features compact and powerful folding e-bike that transforms the way you get around in the cities. Elektron folds in less than 10 seconds to the smallest size of any bike in Tern’s lineup, yet it delivers all riding quality of a full-sized Bosch e-bike. When folded, you can easily carry it with you on buses, trains, or subways, or simply stash it into the trunk of your car.

Built around German-engineered Bosch Active drivetrain, Elektron is powered by a 400Wh Bosch battery that can take you from 50 to 100+ kilometers. Its powerful motor has been adapted from Bosch’s automotive applications that can operate dependably, day in and day out. There are 3 drivetrain sensors that take over 1000 measurements/second to boost instantaneous natural cycling feel. While Bosch’s batteries offer great power and efficiency, the sophisticated electronics offer safety when it comes to critical matters such as fast charging and auto shut-off in extreme temperatures.

Somerset Folding Bike Features Oval Shaped Frame for Convenient Carrying in Public Transportation

Somerset Folding Bike has been designed to amplify the convenience and comfort of transportation into our daily life, using industrial design point of view. In recent years, Taiwan’s government has been promoting the use of mass transportation as alternative to automobiles and motorcycles, public transportation will become the trend of the future yet there are still many people choose private high-fuel consumption transportation. One of the goals for this project aside from reducing carbon footprint, is to encourage people to use public transportation even though they carry a bike.

The innovative mechanism to fold makes this bike turning into a compact cart that can be easily carried in folded mode. Starting with many sketches, the designer thought about how to put a business bag on the bike, that’s why he used elements such as semicircle or circle to develop a series of concept folding bikes.

This concept pickup truck features enhanced design that would fit to the aesthetic expectations of pickup segment while remaining true to Renault’s style and characteristics. From design point of view, this pickup offers robust yet athletic sculpted sides, it comes with prominent wheel arches filled with 21-inch wheels. The body lines are the result of high-tech engineering with an impression of toughness, certainly a head turner.

GM-Nasa Space Robot Power Glove Increases Human Operator Efficiency

Bioservo Technologies AB has made licensing agreement with General Motors and NASA for the use of its patented Robotic SEM technology on the International space station. This robotic glove finds new life on Earth in health care field, and other industrial applications. Bioservo will combine the technology from its SEM (Soft Extra Muscle) Glove with RoboGlove, a battery powered wearable developed by NASA and GM through a 9-year collaboration, to allow us to operate different industrial tools.

RoboGlove uses leading-edge sensors, actuators, and tendons that work similar to muscles, nerves, and tendons in a human hand. This hi-tech glove has reached unprecedented hand dexterity. By combining the best of the worlds: space technology from NASA, engineering from GM, and medtech from Bioservo, it’s highly possible that a new industrial glove can lead to industrial scale use of technology. This glove can increase human operator efficiency while reducing fatigue in hand muscles. There are many ways we can use this glove, from medical rehabilitation to different fields where gripping strength is needed.
