Stylish Givi Motorcycle Top Box Features RFID Key Lock System

Givi motorcycle top box was designed by these industrial designers during their exchange period at Istituto Europeo di Design. This top box project is intended to be used on motorcycles and has to be realistic enough to be released in the market by the year of 2017.

At first, we came up with many ideas that would make this an ambitious target, but during the process we moved toward actual reasonable scenarios and implementing only those features which were likely be available at that time. We had a keen interest to design a product that is sustainable, using biodegradable plastics and making the manufacturing process and recycling process as easy as possible and one of the top box’s main feature and theme is configurability and customizability.

We applied these themes to Givi Motorcycle Top Box both internally and externally, thus the interior has an easy to use compartmentalization feature using elastic rubber bands, while the exterior has customizable rings that can match any motorbike. We decided to use a new lock system with an RFID key to simplify the access to two separate compartments. These compartments have separate purposes, a smaller for easy access for personal things that are essential and a bigger one that has more space. The aggressive angle of the lid was designed to fit with modern and future motorbike trends where the rear end of the bike is also angled, not flat.

E-Board Tracker Bike : A Small, Funny, and Eco Friendly Motorbike

The Eboard Tracker concept doesn’t focus on just a transport vehicle, rather the designer has envisioned it as an eco-friendly, small and funny motorbike that can run at up to 30 mph and ensures better twisting around the corner of the street with its compact and light design. This bike contains hand throttle instead of traditional electric pedaling and features light, simple and optical flowing frame. A beam girder from section-I and hydro-formed tubes welded together in order to strengthen the steering head. The handlebar is shaped like an ace-bar which is fully adjustable and includes a cycle computer on top with speed, battery status and estimated remaining battery capacity readings.

This bike features a very close to “vintage racer” look with its regenerative breaking and a hub battery since they are similar to a set of drum brakes. The chain is swapped for a carbon shaft, bevel drive and nylon hypoid gears enclosed in right swing arm. Behind the pedal shafts, a small six speed cassette type remains hidden and comes operational if the battery becomes flat any time. Both pedals are lockable at 180 degrees and can be used as foot pegs

Cadillac LMP-09 Vision Gran Turismo Concept Car by Arthur Nustas

We came across a cool futuristic racing car dedicated to the popular Gran Turismo video game series. Designed by Arthur B. Nustas, an automotive designer, this single seat concept car features the dynamic shape of a flying eagle with sharp details and smooth surfaces.

Most designers are inspired by current product design trends such as Apple Products, however designing a futuristic vehicle allows you to envision and evolve a design DNA language to your own preference.

I have designed my vision of a 2030 Cadillac LMP single seat race car, based on a lightweight conceptual idea where the wheels are separately attached to a cabin that includes a rear engine power train. The cabin itself is inspired by a B2 stealth bomber and the dynamic shape of a flying eagle. Although Cadillac has a very distinctive design language, especially through the C-pillars, I wanted to stress upon that area which resembles a landing eagle with it’s wings spread open ready to hunt its prey.

The C-pillar itself acts as a spoiler assisting with down-force and improving upon breaking distance. The main power comes from a smaller 3.0L twin-turbo charged V-8 Northstar engine powering the rear wheels and two electric motors mounted in the front powering the front wheels, providing an all-wheel-drive capability to improve acceleration and cornering.

Alpha Concept Car : Single Seater Vehicle with Wooden Chassis

Alpha is a concept car that creates a link between a regular car and a lighter vehicle such as bicycle or a motorcycle. Due to its compact size (3000 mm length,1500 mm width, and 900 mm high ) this electrically powered single-seater vehicle would be ideal for a dynamic young population living in continuously growing cities of the future. The uniqueness of this car lies in its wooden chassis. Designed by Rustam Schogenoff, you can read his explanations about this futuristic car below.

The idea here is to replace all the complex and heavy engineering components of a vehicle by technical properties of the natural materials. One of these materials is wood. This simple material has a number of excellent building physics properties. The main ones are: strength, hardness, lightweight, elasticity, toughness, decay-resistance, and strength. It aims to smartly installed wooden limbs so that it could replace conventional chassis with complex elements such as suspensions, axles and dampers. The construction would even already incorporate all the functions of those elements. The number of technical devices used in a vehicle would be reduced, which would automatically reduce the total weight, energy consumption, the ejected gases, the energy in the production and of course the price).

Pathfinder : Futuristic Ocean Explorer for Deep Sea Tourism

It’s good to hear from Phil Pauley after awhile, this time, he submitted his latest futuristic concept to us: Pathfinder. It’s a deep submarine that has special capability to drive ashore onto any port or coastline. As space travel becomes privatized, Phil has a vision to explore the deep blue sea, an ocean exploration that should become popular for research, tourism, or any commercial applications. Do you know that we only explore 5% of our global ocean?

Can you imagine that the Titanic become a tourist attraction? It’s highly possible when we have deep sea submarine tourism. Visit the Hydrothermal Vents, located deep in the Marina Trench where only few humans have been there before. Manned Mars Expedition Rover Design Proposal for Future Mission to Mars in 2037

There’s a possibility that NASA will have a manned visit to Mars in 2037, well, at least that’s the plan. As part for the mission, they will require special vehicle that is capable to accommodate 4 passengers up to as long as 4 weeks.

Manned Mars Expedition Rover (MER) is a design proposal for this future mission, the design takes into consideration every possible elements required for the passengers to survive in that hostile environment. You can also say that this vehicle doubles the requirement for redundancy. The main power for MER is electric but due to the requirement of continuous, reliable energy, this vehicle is also equipped with a removable on board Dynamic Isotope System. It will be augmented by roof mounted solar panels, enough for short distance trips.

Walking Bicycle : Faster Than Walking, Easier Than Riding Conventional Bike

Walking Bicycle, just like its name suggests, it’s a bicycle that you move simply by walking. It works just like an elliptical bike, it’s faster and more convenient than walking. There are no English description on the official site, fortunately, Arisa Katayama’s (the project leader) willing to explain it to us.

The project started five years ago when our CEO, Masayuki Katayama and a member of our executive board was discussing a new vehicle that moves by simply “walking.” The two were concerned that in the near future, people will rely more on technology rather than their own ability to walk and move around. They wanted to create something that would be more convenient and faster than walking, but easier than riding a typical bicycle. After numerous tests and samples, we invited top designers and producers to be part of the project including Tei Shuwa and Kenya Hara.

Although many bicycles are now made in China and Taiwan, our bicycle is handmade in our company located in Okayama Prefecture and most of the parts are made in Japan. We wanted to emphasize the top notch quality of “Made in Japan” products as well as the incredible talents of Japanese designers which explain a large part of why the price is so expensive.

We are currently in the process of constructing our showroom in the Omotesando area, Tokyo (a very fashionable and trendy area) and preparing for retail that will start in October (only in Japan for now.) We are hoping to start overseas retail as soon as things settle down here.

Antonio Serrano, an industrial designer, has come up with T Bike, a minimalist and simple bike for third world cities such as Mexico City. It’s a sturdy bike that can handle rough terrains or poor infrastructures which are usually found in third world countries.
