Meson EV Supercar with Enhanced Exterior Styling for Better Aerodynamic

The Meson supercar has been created as a fully electric vehicle and the form has evolved to take advantage of the more compact EV powertrain layout. The body has been sculpted to enable the air to pass through the car, as well as around it.

Naturally, there are active dynamics at work and two vast venturi tunnels to help the car provide with exceptional performance. In true supercar tradition, the car incorporates scissor doors and the driver is treated to a central driving position, with two passengers seated either behind (in a similar way to the original McLaren F1). Clamshells at the front and rear provide easy access for maintenance work and the structure is manufactured from carbon fiber, as you would expect.

Designed by Ian Webster, there are echoes from various classic supercars in the silhouette of the design – but it is when you venture closer that you begin to appreciate the use of negative space that gives the car a thoroughly modern flavor.

The design was created before the Lotus Evija and it’s good to see Lotus thinking about the passing the airflow through the car in a similar way.

The design language evolved and became more sculptural and organic as the design progressed from sketching to 3D and this is particularly evident as the form wraps sculpturally around the cabin before guiding the air out of the rear of the car. The view from the rear in particular provides a great opportunity to see the various forms blending together in a pleasing and homogenous way.
