If this future technology came true, would you be willing to sacrifice your comfort by wearing it all the time? Glove One is a wearable mobile communication device, yes, you can make a phone call from it. This project goal is not to design future innovation, but to questions you about what kind of things you’re willing to sacrifice in order to participate in technology and social media. This technology presents delicate and ineffective object with which to augment ourselves. If you want to use this tech, it means you have to sacrifice your hand.

“It is both the literalization of Sherry Turkle’s notion of technology as a “phantom limb”, in how we augment ourselves through an ambivalent reliance on it, as well as a celebration of the freedom we seek in our devices. Emotional investment becomes physical, as the functionality of the device depends on the dysfunctionality of the wearer. While we enjoy the fantasies they offer, we rethink the technologies we construct and reflect on how they construct us.”

POETREE funeral urn is the physical manifestation of emotional stages of grief. It evolves over time as a companion through the stages of mourning. The ashes of our loved one will be placed in the urn and then covered with soil. We can take the urn home and plant a tree in it.

Designer : Margaux Ruyant of DSK ISD International School of Design [INDIA]

When the tree is big enough, it’s time for you to plant the urn in a park or a garden. Since the urn is made of biodegradable material and ceramic, in the end, the only things left would be the tree and the ceramic on top, just like a gravestone. Carrie Russel, a Senior Design Manager at Proctor and Gamble said that POETREE funeral urn concept is a simple and elegant physical manifestation of where emotional intelligence meet not only a poetic idea, but powerful one that touches the soul of the human condition. We couldn’t agree more….

The torch has been designed in a special way in a triangular form with a burner system inside, assuring the heat is dissipated quickly without affected the torchbearer. The circles running along the body of the torch offers an outstanding level of transparency. The torch’s triangular form has been perforated by 8,000 circles that represent the 8,000 Torchbearers plus their stories of personal growth and/or input to their local community that will be commemorated during the Olympic Torch Relay in London.
