Awake Digital Alarm Clock by Simon Michel

How many people use digital alarm clock of their smartphones? According to the designer Simon Michel, a lot of people. His design study “Awake” is the response to bright dazzling smartphone displays, and the search for the snooze button.

When we think of clock radio, most people think of a plastic box with buttons and an LC display. In times of Full HD Smartphone displays that are filled with colorful apps, the incentive to buy a classic digital alarm clock is becoming increasingly smaller. The designer Michel Simon asked himself what makes a clock radio interesting for a young group of people. During his research Michel found out that smartphone design for many young people is an absolute all-rounder. Of course, it can wake you up like a classic digital alarm clock. However, using a smartphone as an alarm clock has its own disadvantages, for example the big bright display can hurt your eyes by reading the time at night. It is also not easy to operate the snooze button, because sometimes the design forces you to open another menu. If digital alarm clocks should remain interesting in the future, then there should be a solution for these problems.

“Awake” digital alarm clock offers solutions for those issues. It’s an alarm clock with USB interface that allows you to connect it with different types of smartphones. It comes with special app that you can install on your smartphone to enable you to handle different wake up mode based on the app settings. In this way, you can choose different alarm times and wakeup songs for each day. The interesting part is the snooze button, the alarm clock itself is the snooze button.

Designed by Eliel Cabrera, It features a 21×21 multicolor LEDs array that enables you to change the display color and the clock display based on your own style. Pretty cool isn’t it? You can setup how this clock show the time, you can use digital mode, binary code, QR code time or simply the traditional way, it’s your choice.

You can find one of unique ways to display the time from the picture below, this clock shows a quarter past twelve.

If you are bored with the style, simply access the setup menu by tapping and sliding your finger along the right side. You can choose different clock styles from that menu.

Do you want to leave a message to your room mate or other family member? PixlClock can help you with that. This clock has been designed to work with a custom app for your mobile phone, in this way, you can create and send the message from your mobile app to PixlClock, it’s a cool reminder message. Furthermore, you can set your twitter account on this clock, so every time someone mentions you, you’ll get the notification on the panel (an animation or a sound).

PixlClock multicolor LED clock uses only one battery that is recharged by induction process. When the battery is low, you’ll be notified with a small icon on the panel.

Puzzle alarm clock allows you to play with time, well actually the alarm of your clock. Simply set the alarm by manipulating the numbers yourself, arrange each part to form the hours and minutes of your desired alarm time, pretty cool isn’t it? Puzzle alarm clock features an elegant wooden box with a front face that has four digits which are flush against the face. This clock turns an alarm icon light on to indicate if you have set the alarm correctly.

Time Stretch : Projects The Time on Ceiling by Scott Young

What time is it? Look up, you’ll know. Perhaps that’s the kind of conversation you’ll be having when you have Time Stretch clock. Designed by Scott Young, a Detroit-based designer, this unique clock that looks like a smoke detector will project the hands of clock around the entire room. Scott said that before the invention of the clock or other time telling devices, people used to read the time of day by watching the sun above. Inspired by this tradition, Scott has designed an innovative timepiece to channel this tradition on a smaller scale. Time Stretch will also challenge the way we have now been taught to tell time.

Front and Back Clock face provides a deeper interpretation of the relationship between battery and clock. This clock face has been designed with an inner and outer disk where each one is housing a battery that acts as the hand of the clock. All this time, you know that battery at the back allows the clock to work. This time the designer wanted to offer the battery to play more important role in its relationship with the clock by playing the role of hands of the clock.

Bent Hands Clock : Read Time in Different Countries Around The World Just From A Single Clock

Bent Hands Clock is pretty weird name for a wall clock, don’t you think? Well, the name actually fits very well if you take a look at this unique clock design. Reading a single time in a watch is normal, however, what if you could tell the time in different countries around the world at a glance? This is why we think Bent Hands clock is one of ingenious designs from Gihawoo. This clock has been designed with a single spiraling arm that indicates the time in different countries around the world.

We know that this world has different time zones, but it is always moving together without a pause. The edge of the angled hand that has been designed out of the attachment (normal clock would use straight needles) represents the times in each country. At this moment the company is looking forward to producing this clock in bulk, I guess you’ll be able to buy this unique timepiece soon. Bent Hands clock reminds you that the world is moving together non-stop even though we live in a different time frame.

The design of F.O. playful digital clock is inspired by Japanese wrapping cloth: Furoshiki and Japanese paper folding: Origami. If you love origami, you must love this clock. Remember domino clock we talked about from carbon design group. Well, we found another cool domino clock design. DominO’ clock was inspired by the classic domino game. It uses multiple domino blocks that are moved by digital mechanism. The system will compose the domino blocks in order to represent the time. The designer is planning to release different color versions of this clock.

Light Gap Energy Efficient Clock

This energy efficient clock uses light and a single gap on its surface to tell you the time. That’s why it’s called “Light Gap”. Light Gap is a simple clock that has nothing but a gap on its surface. You need to place it near glass window in order for this clock to draw solar energy from the sun. This energy powers its rotation. During the day, you can tell the time from the sunlight filtered through the gap. At night, this clock’s gap will illuminate the hour hand with its LED lights powered by the energy stored during the day. This clock has been designed to be able to sense the strength of the light in its environment; therefore, the LEDs will illuminate gradually to make sure you can always see the light which tells the time.
