Chasing Kitsune Is A Yatai Designed by HASSELL For The 2011 State of Design Festival in Melbourne

HASSELL has designed a new pop-up Yatai called Chasing Kitsune. Drawing inspiration from a mythical fox named Kitsune that possesses people and unveils its form solely in shadow, young and expert designers at HASSELL implemented this idea for creating their innovative version of Yatai. This is a Japanese food truck, which is quite different from any other. The truck will pop up at several inner city locations and will adapt to each of the evening locations by unveiling its original form. Branding by the famous Seesaw Design takes a major role in this concept with various flow printing techniques being used for a finishing touch. From 21 until 31 July, HASSELL has Melburnians hunting for Chasing Kitsune at this month’s State of Design Festival. In order to find the Chasing Kitsune’s location during those 10-day festival, the public will have to keep updating Facebook or Twitter. Guest will be served with mouth watering food the moment they find the fox.

Electrolux and Domus Academy in Milan Unveiled The Future “ReSource” Kitchen

As the result of the challenge made by Electrolux to the students at the Domus Academy in Milan, the concept of Future ReSource Kitchen has been unveiled. Design Manager at Electrolux, Bruno Lizotte revealed saying to resource is to re-generate, remix and relax. The ReSource concepts by Electrolux include sustainable thinking as well as cultural reference points, both being an increasingly crucial issues for product design since our planet’s resources vanish and our changing habits as well as lifestyles are fed by ethnic influences in our pursuit for novelty. The nine key concepts future ReSource kitchen includes, Kinetic Efficient Water Appliance, Aeolus extractor fan by Chi Rong Hsu, CLEAiR air purifier by Ariadna Tellez Rossell, Breathe kitchen appliance by Beyza Dogan, Chefiamo virtual cookbook by Jervis Chua, Wine by Jung Kun Choi, Celcius by Marcela Vanesa Céspedes, and Fulcrum contemporary system of furniture plus kitchen appliance by Surbhi Singhal.

1. KEWA (Kinetic Efficient Water Appliance) by Pietro Russomanno, Italy
KEWA is a an air pressure cleaner that saves water, time, and energy. Water is directed through kinetic jets to create a ‘water-blade’ capable of cleaning a single plate or pan in one sole stroke. There is also a hand-held cleaner to remove anything that may have been left on the plate or cooking vessel in advance.

2. Aeolus by Chi Rong Hsu, Taiwan
Extraction Meets Storage – AEOLUS is an extractor fan that efficiently removes odours from the entirety of a room. Chi Rong Hsu was specifically looking for a response to manage wok cooking within an enclosed space but this solution is applicable in many scenarios and maximises space by accommodating utensils and assorted tools that can be hung from the frame. Simple, smart and effective!

3. CLEAiR by Ariadna Tellez Rossell, Mexico
CLEAiR is an air purifier that provides automatic status updates about the condition of air in your home providing a cleaner and healthier place to live. The three separate table mounted cleaners (shown above) can also be used for general cleaning in a hand-held position.

4. Breathe by Beyza Dogan, Turkey
Breathe is a living kitchen appliance that literally ‘breathes in’ air pollutants through ionization. A clean kitchen environment is complemented by ambient light that follows the natural cycle of the day making the appliance visually appealing and providing a sense of harmony in the home.

5. Jumble by Zahira Ivelisse Crespo, Puerto Rico
Induction cooking with a twist – Jumble is a flexible set of induction cooking plates that allows easy transfer of cooking vessels to different temperate zones. A remote control operates the three cooking zones and frees up valuable counter space.

6. Wine by Jung Kun Choi, South Korea
‘Wine’ brings an aesthetic dimension to wine collection and storage. The wall mounted showcase displays the bottles whilst maintaining their optimal temperature. There is also a cabinet to chill and store suitable foods served as a part of the taste experience.

7. Celcius by Marcela Vanesa Céspedes, Argentina
Celcius – Recycling Kitchen Waste. Celcius is a kitchen waste disposal and recycling appliance. Enzymes break down organic waste creating energy that is sent to containers linked by conductive pipes that can be used to heat small appliances in the home.

8. Chefiamo by Jervis Chua, Hong Kong
‘Chefiamo’ is a virtual cook book that assists, guides, inspires and maintains cooking traditions through the projection of recipes. A hologram, programmed to appear like a friend or relative is projected on to a counter top to help you through the cooking process, making it easier to recreate mum’s special recipes. An interactive glove measures progress e.g. weight of ingredients and facilitates updates.

9. Fulcrum by Surbhi Singhal, India
Fulcrum is a modular system of furniture and kitchen appliance. As it is fully adaptable to your space (it can be built up as necessary) it allows you to store, cook and eat no matter the size of your living space.

DuPont and Disney Presents “Tron Designs Corian” Based On The Film “TRON:Legacy” from Walt Disney Studios

DuPont and Disney will present the most exclusive “TRON designs CORIAN”, an exhibition that draws its inspiration from the film “TRON: Legacy” from Walt Disney Studios, at Padiglione Visconti. The overall effect and appearance of TRON: Legacy has inspired several artists and designers across design, fashion and technology. The world of TRON has become a new lifestyle phenomenon, right from the innovative Draft Punk soundtrack to elite apparel and designer jewellery, to the new videogame TRON: Evolution.

The exhibition is an innovative design project that will be art directed by renowned DuPont and Disney and made using DuPont™ Corian® ultra-modern surface for an astounding scenography. Under the guidance of both Disney and DuPont, top companies such as Altha, Tao Esterno, Capo d’Opera, Jacuzzi, Lago, Cappellini and artitects such as Shai Akram, AquiliAlberg, Marco Piva, Dror Benshetrit, Jordi Canudas, Lagostudio, Ilaria Marelli, Giulio Cappellini and a lot more will create fascinating interior design solutions as well as architectural forms for TRON designs CORIAN®, taking inspiration from TRON: Legacy and tapping the flexibility of DuPont™ Corian® techno-surface. This exhibition will as well benefit from the involvement of technical partners including Sony, Light Tape, Luxit, DuPont™ Imvelo™ and Shicon. Among the design concepts, the home theater area boasts a special edition of the TRON Armchair created by Dror Benshetrit and incorporates advanced audio and video equipment. Totally this is truly a magnificent creation.

This is the fourth and the last part of DongSeo University 12th Graduation Exhibition of the talented students who major in Industrial Design of the Department of Design. This part is focus on Oceanic design.

1. Rescue Ball by Inyoung Kim, Sohyun Yoon, and Kyeonghan Jeong
Existing life saving tubes are difficult to throw far away due to its structure. Rescue Ball has been designed to carry this life saving tube inside where users can easily throw it away more accurately. Upon an emergency, if one pulls the ring of the ball, the tube folded inside will turn into a form of lifesaving tube swelling up in a method of CO2 expansion.

2. Swallow Yacht by Moah Seo, Yiseul Son, Yengju Song, Jungeun Lee, Boeun Joo, Boyeong Heo
This yacht takes advantage of the wind to sail. These designers propose speed and refined dingy yacht design by expressing the form reminding of swallow tail.

3. Automatica Buoy by Eontae Yoon
This buoy will automatically indicate the location upon an accident. Buoy springs out from the point of the accident automatically upon a sinking of a ship by buoyancy.

4. Sunbed for Emergency by Seongmin Jeon and Jaekwan Jung
This sunbed can be stretched out under an emergency situation to move the patient quickly.

This booth design provides an easy access for people to give their donation

2. U-Pad by Sungkuk Park
A multi-pad for people who cannot communicate with each other. This device is a two way communication device for blind people and hearing impaired people. The blind people use braille because they can’t see, while the hearing impaired people communicate by writing since they can’t hear but they can read.

3. U-Words by Changhyeon Bang
Children can learn Korean easily using this educational toy. Learning by playing.

4. The Cleaning Bike by Junhee Lee
This cleaning bike picks up waste on the road by using the principle of wheel rotation. When the bicycle moves forward, it cleans the road easily and conveniently.

5. Round Parking by Sungchuel Jang
This is a new parking method with unique angle for better space utilization.

6. A Bin On The Street by Moonjoo Jo
This mounted waste bin helps cleaning workers to sweep off the dust from the road easier.

7. Parking Information by Yeonghun Hyun
A system to guide people to locate their car in the parking lots. Most people don’t remember where they park their car. This information booth will locate the car for them. This device can also inform the parking guide about available parking space.

This is the second part of DongSeo University 12th Graduation Exhibition of the talented students who major in Industrial Design of the Department of Design. This part is focus on daily products we use in our home.

1. Emergency Balloon System by Youngdo Kim
This unit is an emergency system for our house. Pulling down the slide bar will connect you automatically to the emergency rescue center and start a video communication. At the same time, a helium balloon is flown from the roof to help the rescuers easily locate our house.

2. LanCup by Yeonghwa Kim
This is a flashlight designed specifically for mountain climbers. When the batteries are dead, they can recharge the flashlight by shaking it. The opposite side of it can be used as cups.

3. Swing Baby by Taehoon Kim
This baby cradle was inspired by rocking cradle and rocking horse. The rocking motion of the cradle and rocking horse mimic the natural pattern of a child’s growth. The rocking motion stabilizes breathing and stimulates brain activity, thereby promoting sense of balance and the growth of your child.

4. Lighting Desk of Two Habits by Dongmin Park
The desk light turns on when someone takes the chair away from the desk. When this person is done and push back the chair in, the light turns off automatically.

5. Foodpad by Yuri Song
This table has been designed to help visually impaired people to have better experience with their food. It has reading coordinates to make them easier to locate the food and tablewares.

6. Pearl Case by Jeongah Yang
A drug case that prevents repulsion.

7. Flower Tacks by Siyeol Lee
This is actually a pin in a shape of magnetic ball when not in use. Just press the button to make it spread into a flower shape and ready for you to use it.

8. Slicer by Jaryong Cho
This design provides convenience of use and portability as well as the decline of the amount of soap consumed.

A Proposal of public space using solar energy.

2. Slide Bath System by Seunghee Kim
Bathtub system with a sliding method. This bathtub has dual functions : sink and bathtub. When in closed mode, you can use it as a bathroom sink. Just slide it open, you’ll get yourself a bathtub.

3. Open It! by Youngdo Kim
An ingenious instant coffee packaging design. Open It! is a package that can also act as a straw after you empty the content.

4. Clever Spoon by Yeonghwa Kim
Clever spoon is a measuring spoon that you can use to find out the right amount of the seasoning in the kitchen faster and easier.

5. Mimong Nanum by Inyoung Kim
Mimong Nanum is a packaging design for nativ alcoholic beverages (Makgeolli). It looks like an ordinary container of Makgeolli, but once the vinyl bag is opened, it will split into 2 bowls. It allows you to enjoy Makgeolli with other people.

6. Dumbbell+ by Taehoon Kim
Dumbbell is usually a single weight fitness equipment. Dumbbell+ is a new dumbbell design to make it possible for you to adjust the weight just with one single equipment.

7. Heaven’s Window Dongmin Park
This is a frame lamp to remind you about the joy of opening a window and welcoming the beautiful sun light through it.

Decorate your home as a small gallery by putting various flowers in Louvre Vase.

25. The Sandglass by Jaryong Cho
A typical lamp shines at an angel of 360 degrees omni-directionally. This kind of lighting causes unnecessary power consumption when you need the light on a specific spot. This lamp concept has been designed to allow the user to adjust the intensity of light as much as they want and feel the lighting from any angle.

26. Cube Lighting by Boeun Joo
You can control the brightness of this lamp from the number on the dice. Pretty cool lamp design.

27. Smile Again by Boyeong Heo
A wallpaper with a hanger function.

28. Swing+ by Yeonghun Hyun
For small space bathroom, swing+ is needed. Swing+ is a combination of a bathroom sink, a storage, and a toilet.
