Adventures in Smurfs Village – this is the name of kid’s playground of the largest theme park in the country. The main figure of the project is Gargamel, which was built by the Smurfs of wooden materials. The height of the structure is about 7 meters, and the metal ramps are installed to 3 meters height. In order to slide down, you need to get through the main body, crawl in Gargamel’s hands and get into the cages. To escape from cages kids have to slide down on spiral slides.
The playground consists of several objects in form of a fairy stump with an unusual mesh design and a log that falls on Gargamel’s cage. Children can get inside the log using two ways – through the hole below or through a hidden crack. In addition, specially designed for kids, there’s a stylized water wheel with a wide metal slide.
All structures are made of wood and have metal connectors. The frame of the main figure is made of metal and covered with plywood. All playing equipment complies with Russian quality standards and has a high level of safety confirmed by the certificate of conformity with technical regulations of the EEU.
The design team paid special attention to the mood of the playground and the details. It was important to convey as closely as possible the image and emotions of the evil sorcerer Gargamel. His figure is dynamically leaning forward, hanging over the playing area, as if the sorcerer was about to move. And the expression on his face causes excitement and wariness.
Coloring is the final creative stage. In order to do it the design team added additional shadows at all places, lighting and contour to create a fictitious atmosphere, like in cartoons. Moreover, the goal of this playground was to create an atmosphere of presence of The Smurfs on the playground, who spilled paint, smeared in it and left their marks everywhere In some places, there’s also an aging effect to the paint, some cracks and chipped. All these techniques are designed to enhance the sense of the presence of The Smurfs and give the site a fabulous and unique atmosphere.
The scope of work has included design, engineering, production and installation of structures, as well as the laying of safety cover. Many specialists worked on this project and as a result, a unique play space has been created, it delivers a vivid impression to all children and does not leave their parents indifferent.
