Bosch 360 Washer and Dryer

The Bosch 360 is a washer and dryer concept that utilizes a spherical drum which allows the clothes to be washed in all direction for maximum cleaning. The designers found that front loading machines clean better than top loading machines. But for rinsing, top loading are better because they work with centrifugal force and are more balanced. This is why their design solves both issues in washing. The Bosch 360 also utilizes a spherical shell that flows into a base. This creates a real eye catcher in the store. Once someone sees this round washer they will almost be forced to go look at it. Then they will notice the spherical drum which is the best part. After all if the spherical drum were in a “box” not half as many people would notice it right off.

The control panel is on the door uses digital touch screen technology. This idea is not new but creating a dome shaped touch display is new. When touched, the display lights up to reveal the settings and you just need to touch the cycles that you want to use it. The cool thing about the round shell and dome touch display is that now you have an easy wipe surface to clean.

Smellfree Compost Bin : The Ultra Efficient Odorless Compost Bin Concept

It’s every home maker’s nightmare of trashing the trash but the new concept design trash can is some thing that should take care of these worries. Named as Ultra Efficient Odorless Compost Bin designed by Industrial designer Joe Brunton ensures that the waste material don’t stink inside the bin but the organic waste recycles itself by the use of carbon filter technology which dries up the decomposing waste while preventing the malodorous ammonia to enter kitchen. These filters are replaceable which need to be changed every six months thus ensuring the functionality of product as well as that of the process. A good practical thought for sure.

Joe explanations :
This projects aim was to encourage people to recycle their own organic waste at home. One reason why this wasn’t happening was because the compost decomposes and creates an unpleasant smell; this is caused by wet compost and high nitrogen / ammonia levels.

The “Smellfree” compost bin uses carbon filters to dry out the waste and lower the nitrogen levels so even when you lift the lid of the bin the compost will not fume out your kitchen whilst also making it much more efficient. The bin will take between 1 and 2 weeks to fill. This is if the organic material going into the bin is chopped to a reasonable size, also making the compost process more productive.

The main body is 300mm high and with the lid its 400mm. This was set so it could be easily kept on a kitchen work surface or be cleaned in a standard dishwasher. The body can come in any colour, and even with custom print to make it more desirable to the consumer.

iBasket : Futuristic Washing Machine Concept That Sends A Message to Your Mobile Device

Are you bored of your washing machine? Then you might wish to try out this Electrolux iBasket because it will automatically clean your clothes with transparency. It is designed by Guopeng Liang at China Tongji University during an Electrolux 2008 Design Lab Competition. It is a real innovation with great potential to make the process of washing clothes less daunting experience. This laundry hamper will automatically wash your clothes once enough clothes are tossed inside as per the weight. You can also control the frequency of wash cycles. The iBasket will also send you a message on your computer once the cleaning is done.

“Failing to manage laundry and piles of dirty clothes is one of the many daily chores that are left unattended by so many busy people, whose jobs doesn’t leave them with time to take care of them. Whether you have a washing machine in your home or go to the corner laundromat, doing wash is a royal pain. Especially for the i-generation, who had whole hours pass in the blink of an eye, sometimes whole days get eaten up in some black hole and so household chores pile up. With a view to offer a little help, I have designed iBasket – a revolutionary washing machine that could really make life easier.

The i-generation are too busy working for their dreams. What if the whole laundry thing could be forgotten and both time and attention are saved for dream work?

The idea is to use this as a hamper, throwing your dirty clothes in as they accumulate. The iBasket then senses when the load is full and initiates the wash and dry cycle. Since it is Wi-Fi-enabled, you can control and monitor (if you’d like to do so) the concept washing machine via your PC or mobile device. Once the the cycle is complete, iBasket will alert you and send a message to your PC or mobile”
