Mobile phone today is more than just simple phone as its usage is far beyond just receiving and making phone calls. Mac Funamizu introduced us to this new gadget which is a mobile phone concept which can be said to have been picked straight out of the Bond movies! One can wear this gadget around their wrist as a watch, though it is transparent. However the look can be customized with the change of color pattern or placing any picture on the background. A foldable gadget, thereby one can mould the same as per the pocket. Accompanied by a pair of earphones that ensures a surround sound effect, it’s a gadget to look out for!

Do you know the motion of your body can actually charge an MP3 player? Yes, it is something new and exciting. Shake is a design concept that makes use of kinetic energy in order to charge the battery. A person just needs to shake his/her body for recharging the battery. Just turn on the “Hold” button and start shaking and once the battery is charged, you can turn off the “Hold” button to play and pause the MP3 player. You must have heard of the pocket watch with same concept but giving life to an electronic device with your physical actions is unbelievable.

Kenneth says :
Shake is a mp3 player that can be charged by shaking when the HOLD function is on. With HOLD off, the user shakes the player for PLAY/PAUSE. The action of shaking the player to play or charge it is similar to shaking a pocket watch to wind it. The similar semantics provide an interesting yet familiar experience of giving life to an electronic device. The form of Shake was developed based on the language of a pocket watch, not only through the operation of shaking but also visually. Using the form from an established typology, Shake provides a comforting familiarity in a sea of electronics with foreign shapes and forms.

The use of kinetic energy to charge the battery not only solves an environmental issue, but also a more personal one. In situations like a long commute home, the user can enjoy personal audio without worrying about the battery dying out.

An electromagnetic coil is connected to the battery, converting kinetic energy into electrical energy that charges the battery. The player connects to the computer via a USB cable through the headphone jack, facilitating the transfer of songs as well as the conventional method of charging.

Shake would utilize kinetic energy generation technology developed by start up company M2E Power. M2E’s micro-generator technology delivers 300% to 700% more power than existing kinetic energy solutions (according to the company’s website), harvesting sufficient energy from normal daily and mechanical motion to power a wide range of mobile electronic devices.

This technology allows Shake to charge even in the user’s pocket while he/her is walking around.

Watches do just one thing, and you can find them in million of models and prices. Now they are a trendy accessory rather than only an instrument to sign the time. Why not try to do the same with mobile phones? Fashion victims could wearing it like a jewel with a special cover and elastic string according with some elegant dress. A phone to show, not to hide in the bag or pocket.

Often ring tones are irritating for the others and if you want use vibrating-call that is not always useful if the phone is far from you. Wearing the phone, vibrating-call is more practical because it vibrates on the hand. I think the gesture of shaking the thumb and pinky to call is natural for the people. You can have the phone always ready to use, and putting microphone and speaker very close at your ear and mouth is possible use it also in noisy places. You can continue to catch objects or use a pen. Another more serious reason to use it, is for people that have fear of electro smog from mobile phones. Separating the microphone and the speaker is possible to adapt them according the personal shape of human cranium and to keep the electromagnetic field far from the head. Touchscreen equipped with “Voice Activated” and “Hands Free” software to dialing, picking up and hanging up the line.

One of the old time keeping devices has been the good old pocket watch with a chain and flap. But the advent of wrist watch and the comfortability of the same led to the former being lost in the oblivion. With the discerning public need for next convergence device which blends elegance with portability and simplicity. Well in comes the Cobalt as response to that. Its round OLED touch screen allows an easy access to the features with just a simple flick of the thumb. The screen shows time, date, and temperature along with updates on text, email and voicemail. It can be completely customized on every level, with the default settings on the screen that can be changed to suit user needs be it a minimal analog hands to full on digital display.

It is designed with the style conscious in mind as in when the Bluetooth technology can be integrated with earrings and other accessories. There’s a hidden spot on the back for house keys, along with state-of-the-art voice recognition software, it sure is one thing you can take to places.

Bored after a hard days work? Stressed that targets are not being met? How about a fast paced game completed with all levels. Or just want to catch up on the latest movie, or speaking to your partner about the future. All this in a single foldable device! Welcome to 2014 device! Ori-ori-Moshi-moshi is a concept device designed by Antenna Design. Just put it out of your pocket and spread it on the table and just let it be what you want it to be!

Now the scenario given above is not from any ‘sci fi’ or James Bond movie, but could be something you and I might be using in the future. This foldable concept gadget might be one to watch for, as it chooses various angles to fold up. With more and more emphasis been given to less is more, it can be said that this is what the doctor ordered for a busy technocrat like you.

This revolutionary foldable design will surely be grabbing eyeballs once it is out in the market, only hitch being, what does Ori Ori Mochi Mochi mean?

Black titanium case and bracelet with Kevlar inserts, high-temperature resistance and a position sensitive gyroscope cage Tourbillon designed to enhance accuracy. The striking design’s gyroscope cage tourbillon and constant horizontal escapement is a feature which means the mechanism avoids the effects of gravity.

According to Zenith this is a ” a major innovation in the world of watchmaking” providing “considerably greater accuracy”. Reducing the effects of gravity was certainly a critical factor in 1795 when the tourbillon was invented and mechanical pocket watches (prone to inaccuracy because of gravity) were all the rage. We’re not 100% sure of its impact on modern watch design, but it undoubtedly bestows a level of prestig
