The Matching Tree : Space-Efficient Furniture System

Inspired by the design of a tree, this Matching Tree or Tree House is very useful concept for a librarian. It is shelving unit with a ladder built in to the bookcase in order to have all the books within one’s reach. One can easily adjust or extend ladder from floor to ceiling to reach to the higher shelves. This design submission came from Kuan-Sheng Wu, take a look at the V-shape of this concept, it assists to balance the weight of the bookcase and also protects it falling during an earthquake. The whole design attaches to the ceiling with the help of round discs that makes it completely freestanding. The Matching Tree is also one of IDSA 2008 finalists, congratulations !

The Matching Tree is a system furniture, utilizing the expansion and rotation of supporting pillars to match the furniture with the surrounding interior of all heights and shapes, without any drilling or destructing the buildings. The Matching Tree also consists of ladder, which is required when reaching for the upper bookshelves; normally the ladder is embedded into the bookshelf, and may be lowered when required.

Treepac eco friendly packaging concept has won a Silver International Design Excellence Award (IDEA) in EcoDesign category. With its structure made entirely of sustainable materials, a great effort towards greener earth, I think they do deserve the award. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, paper products are the biggest single component of community waste, with 85 million tons generated in 2006. Though much of this is recycled, the sheer volume compelled the team at product development consultancy Essential to examine their own consumption habits. Frustrated by their findings, the team devised a solution—the Treepac. Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) judges took notice and honored the concept with a Silver International Design Excellence Award (IDEA) in the Ecodesign category.

Treepac is a reusable shipping container intended to replace cardboard boxes. The structure is made entirely of sustainable wood-based polymer cellulose acetate, Treepac is used like cardboard packaging but is designed to enable and encourage people and companies to improve their environmental footprint. The more times each pack is used, the greater its positive effect on the environment.

“When we examined our everyday use of cardboard, we became aware of the quantity of packaging materials we should recycle, appalled at the amount of material we couldn’t, and frustrated by an inability to reuse most of it,” said Design Researcher Dave Siedzik. “We were disheartened that recycling cardboard is a completely inefficient process.”

The Treepac concept mirrors the good features of cardboard boxes while adding new attributes that lower the overall environmental impact of packaging. Essential researchers, designers and engineers estimate that a recycled cardboard box can have up to eight uses but must be reconstituted in an energy-draining production facility each time. The Treepac, on the other hand, can be reused again and again.

Developing the Treepac is one way the Essential team aspires to create a positive environmental and social impact through their work. “By thinking of new opportunities to reduce overall energy consumption while not fundamentally changing the current shipping and delivery infrastructure, the Treepac concept has the potential to both improve the industry and help the environment,” said Founding Partner Scott Stropkay.

Miranda is a cheap video recorder with a flash memory and 3 axis accelerometer. It helps you to record all things happening around you and also helps finding thieves or anything suspicious as it goes around with every time. It’s small, adaptable and cheap. Lams convincing thoughts has helped in showing the results of the brutal processions. It is very effective in the elimination of corruption from a body (mostly government). Requires very little maintenance and very effectively and generate proportional benefits. It also plays a major role in the security of civil rights.

It also works well in the night as it has embedded flash light. It can help the police in their dangerous work. It works more effectively than a CCTV camera, CCTV camera has a limit range view, but this device has no range as it is in motion all the time with you, help you solving many problems such as theft in your daily life. This designer with his unique mind has bought out something fantastic and has done something good for the mankind and making them independent of cops and working towards their own security.
