Unique and Funny Marionette Concept Clock from Mintpass

The Marionette Clock is a unique concept clock, where the entire wall acts as a clock and the hand is attached with strings that are clasped up to a conveyor on the top. The innovative design of this clock has made it like a puppet play, performed by the Mint boys, who are moving the clock’s hand by controlling the strings, while riding on a roller between their legs that are powered by electric motor.

Marionette boys control the vertical wires attached to the clock’s hand by winding and unwinding the crank. The vertical wiring is controlled by the stepper motor and the function of its module is to calculate the vertical wire’s length to a high level of accuracy. Display of time is done by calculating the vertical wire length and the unicycle’s position to their appropriate figure. The unicycle, on which the Marionette boys ride, is made of “Mycom”, which runs by the stepper motors and let the Marionette boys stay put. The Marionette boys are equipped with rechargeable and interchangeable battery, kept in a backpack on their backs for better balance and this unique design prevents the ride of the boys from falling off, even when they are positioned in an angle.

Marionette clock forms a kind of tiny circus show with two moving Marionette boys back and forth on a unicycle to show the time which certainly will create an artistic sensation.

The electronics market today is more and more concentrating in designing products that are not just good to look at but also possess other features like, being light weight, thin, wire less, water proof and also shock resistant. This technology is termed as nano-technology which surely puts the old adage that good things come in small packages, hence this technology which is still in its nascent stage as there is still research happening and more features being added and developed, it will be good for 3 to 4 years before we can actually see the technology affecting our daily lives.

Massimo says :
Electronics should be user-friendly and eco-friendly, cheap and standard. Some products will have only 2 dimensions. If you want 3rd dimension is possible use packaging technology (boxes) or glued printed electronics sheets or print directly on surfaces of 3d objects. Philosophy of product designer is going to be more near to fashion designers or graphic designers: products think as dress, using ribbons and sheets.

Transparent and thin means not only invisible electronics but you can also customize it with your creativity. Help and tutorial “how use it” are visible on the products’ surface. With “artificial muscles” inside is possible move, vibrate or open printed sheets. Using surface’s treatment like gecko’s paws is possible shape or attach devices everywhere. Solar nano-cells recharge devices by sun or infrared rays. Without wires for electric energy is possible use it everywhere. Neither fall nor water can damage our precious electronic friend.

Versatile is a new kind of kitchen appliances. It solves many common problems that you can experience with today kitchen appliances such as : space problem, so many electric wires, hard to clean, hard to use, too many features per product, etc.

Versatile is a system products. A panel supplied electric power and support to a large choice of magnetic appliances such as: toaster, steamer, coffee machine, with minimum interface.

Versatile allows spontaneous access, more frequent usage. No waste of space as appliances are used and stored in the same place. Very simple and easy to use shapes thanks to the induction technology. Hermetic products mean washable product even in a dish-washer.

Trunk Station Ad – Your Office in A Box

After casulo, here comes another invention from Japan called Trunk Station Ad, a workstation in a box. I guess we are going to see a lot of transforming furniture design in the future, this is due to saving space issue that we are going to face. The W 906mm x D 615mm H x 1190mm sized melamine resin trunk opens to reveal an efficient work space, complete with pre-drilled holes for electrical and component wires/cables, a fold out desk, and plenty of shelving for a whole lot of extras (including some add-on units). The price tag is around $1,980, quite expensive, well … saving space is never cheap.
