CHICAGO, IL. – April 21, 2009 – LG Mobile Phones (the fastest growing mobile phone brand in North America) is partnering with crowdSPRING (an online marketplace for creative services) and Autodesk (a leader in 2D and 3D design and engineering software) to hold a new competition to define the future of personal mobile communication. Starting today, U.S. residents age 18 and over can have a chance to design their vision of the next revolutionary LG mobile phone and compete for more than $80,000 in awards.

This year’s competition is even bigger and better than last year’s with first place awarded $20,000, second place awarded $10,000 and third place awarded $5,000. And to reward as many people as possible in the name of creativity, LG will be giving out a whopping 40 honorable mentions of $1,000 plus an LG U.S. phone!

“We’re very excited about this competition because it gives consumers, professionals, students and design enthusiasts all a chance to exercise their creative imaginations and have their ideas be heard.

Are you bored of your washing machine? Then you might wish to try out this Electrolux iBasket because it will automatically clean your clothes with transparency. It is designed by Guopeng Liang at China Tongji University during an Electrolux 2008 Design Lab Competition. It is a real innovation with great potential to make the process of washing clothes less daunting experience. This laundry hamper will automatically wash your clothes once enough clothes are tossed inside as per the weight. You can also control the frequency of wash cycles. The iBasket will also send you a message on your computer once the cleaning is done.

Designer words :

“Failing to manage laundry and piles of dirty clothes is one of the many daily chores that are left unattended by so many busy people, whose jobs doesn’t leave them with time to take care of them. Whether you have a washing machine in your home or go to the corner laundromat, doing wash is a royal pain. Especially for the i-generation, who had whole hours pass in the blink of an eye, sometimes whole days get eaten up in some black hole and so household chores pile up. With a view to offer a little help, I have designed iBasket – a revolutionary washing machine that could really make life easier.

The i-generation are too busy working for their dreams. What if the whole laundry thing could be forgotten and both time and attention are saved for dream work?

The idea is to use this as a hamper, throwing your dirty clothes in as they accumulate. The iBasket then senses when the load is full and initiates the wash and dry cycle. Since it is Wi-Fi-enabled, you can control and monitor (if you’d like to do so) the concept washing machine via your PC or mobile device. Once the the cycle is complete, iBasket will alert you and send a message to your PC or mobile”

You must be confusing this design with a ship standing in the middle of a forest. But in actual it is a Capital Hill Residence, a private house in Barvikha Forest which is nearby Moscow, Russia. This project was designed by Zaha Hadid Architects and it is still under construction. It will be shown in the Russia Pavilion on 12th September to 23rd September as part of showcase of work by Russia. Sources say that this project will be completed by 2010. You can imagine if this structure is so beautiful from outside then how luxurious and amazing it would be from inside. This project will definitely be a dream house for anyone visiting and seeing it.

From the website:
Introducing a new dimension to sport flying.

A new, light sport aircraft manufacturer, ICON Aircraft, started with the vision that planes should be designed with the consumer in mind first. Founded out of Stanford Graduate School of Business by Kirk Hawkins, an accomplished engineer and former U.S. Air Force F-16 pilot, ICON Aircraft conducted years of thorough research to develop an industrial design that has evolved to become ICON’s first model, the ICON A5.

A long-time powersports enthusiast, Hawkins’ dream for the potential of sport flying became possible when he first heard of the FAA’s rule changes for light sport aircraft in 2004. As he witnessed what the Yamaha Waverunner did for personal watercraft in 1980’s, Hawkins believed a consumer-oriented sport plane could do the same for recreational flying.

Early on, Hawkins began assembling investors and world-class design and engineering talent to bring the vision to reality. ICON Aircraft eventually set up its headquarters and development facility in Southern California, a region known for having the world’s largest concentration of aerospace resources as well as the world’s leading automobile design and development resources.

Advising along the way have been top academic professionals, business leaders in aviation and powersports, and directors of award-winning product design firms like IDEO and BMW DesignWorks USA.

Leading the charge to bring the design into production is an engineering and fabrication team that previously worked on such notable projects as the Virgin Global Flyer and X-Prize winning SpaceShipOne, among many other significant aircraft and aerospace projects at Burt Rutan’s Scaled Composites in nearby Mojave, Calif.

BMW Group Design has come up with GINA or Geometry and Functions in “N” Adaptations. BMW Gina Light car concept promotes innovative thinking and allows maximum freedom of creativity. Also BMW has explored the creative options that can be provided rather than probing how the future cars will look like. This car can change shape and surface at the flick of a switch, and the ‘GINA’ principles it espouses have been used to craft today’s BMW design language.

BMW design has been known to ruffle a few conservative feathers in the past, and today’s disclosure of its GINA process is bound to raise eyebrows. Standing on its 20-inch alloys, the Light Vision Model concept looks like a modern-day BMW sports car, displaying taut sculpted muscles and the brand’s unmistakable signature form language of flame surfacing.

Yet the Light Visionary Model is not made of metal but of cloth. The virtually seamless stretch fabric is secured on a meshwork of metal wires that shields the movable substructure beneath.

If your skin color is not the color you want it to be and you want to be “fair”, but you cannot avoid going out in the sun, then adidas “adi-bloc” sun protection cream can be your dream product. This is adidas’ first sun protection cream that keeps your skin protected from the UV rays. The smooth and effective cream sooths your skin and prevents sun tan. The bottle is designed in a unique way and the color of the bottle is golden which gives it a rich look. It also consists of a specially designed nozzle that releases the sun protective cream on to your skin with the help of 3 holes placed vertically on the bottle.

You may also aware of global warming due to the breakage of the ozone layer that enables the UV rays to enter the earth, and this UV rays cal also lead to skin cancer. This product works effectively in the protection of your skin from skin cancer. Now there is no need to hide yourself from the sun and miss your favorite games just because they are played outdoor in the hot sun. But I have to remind you that this is just a concept, not official news from Adidas.

To stand and to walk for some people that could be just a dream. ReWalk exoskeleton is trying to make that dream come true, paraplegics will be able to stand, walk, even climb the stairs The challenge here is to design something that imitates a human walking, including universal fit for a broad range of user height and weight measurements, as well as a low profile that is both contemporary and user friendly. ReWalk exoskeleton is a light, wearable brace support suit featuring DC motors at the joints, rechargeable batteries, an array of sensors, and a computer-based control system. Users wear a backpack device and braces on their legs, and select the activity they want from a remote control. A sensor on the chest determines the torso’s angle and guides the legs to move forward or backward to maintain balance. You can expect to see ReWalk Exoskeleton on sale in 2009.
