Bosch 360 Washer and Dryer

The Bosch 360 is a washer and dryer concept that utilizes a spherical drum which allows the clothes to be washed in all direction for maximum cleaning. The designers found that front loading machines clean better than top loading machines. But for rinsing, top loading are better because they work with centrifugal force and are more balanced. This is why their design solves both issues in washing. The Bosch 360 also utilizes a spherical shell that flows into a base. This creates a real eye catcher in the store. Once someone sees this round washer they will almost be forced to go look at it. Then they will notice the spherical drum which is the best part. After all if the spherical drum were in a “box” not half as many people would notice it right off.

The control panel is on the door uses digital touch screen technology. This idea is not new but creating a dome shaped touch display is new. When touched, the display lights up to reveal the settings and you just need to touch the cycles that you want to use it. The cool thing about the round shell and dome touch display is that now you have an easy wipe surface to clean.

Refresh Your Clothes with Stratosphere

The Electrolux last year design competition challenged students to come up with appliance designs of the future and one such interesting design was the Stratosphere. Designed by Budapest based Hungarian student Attila Sáfrány, Stratosphere is a design of a clothes rack. This rack helps in storing the clothes if to be used again and helps to maintain hygiene as it sucks off all the germs and micro pollutants out of the clothes and these goes to the filter placed in the device and out come a clean cloth which can be used again whenever desired. All in all it’s a nice and clean concept.

Actually the Stratosphere is nothing more than the rethinking of the well-known valet. I have transposed it from the old days to the ambience of the Internet generation.

The Stratosphere answers a question well-known to all of us: namely our clothes we still want to wear for another day and don’t want to put in the laundry box we usually keep lying around the apartment, or most often, on the back of the chair.

It solves the problem by airing and refreshing them. It simply sucks in from the fabrics spread over the support imitating the back of the chair those micro-pollutant which carry chemicals responsible for unpleasant odors. Then channeling the air through the HEPA filter (where the dust particles get caught) and a UV-C light chamber (where odorous elements and viruses and bacteria get killed) it finally lets the air back to the natural circulation of the apartment. So it not only deodorizes clothes but gives protection against 99.9 percent of all respiratory diseases.

It’s not only a coincidence that the name refers to the layer of the Earth’s atmosphere where the UV-C radiation of the Sun (since there is no protective ozone) kills bacteria. Likewise the form intentionally resembles vegetal motives. Moreover with a household appliance which has been conceived for a new function and because of the naturalness of its use must be present permanently and actively in living space, just like a standard lamp or a vase, aesthetic functions can’t be neglected either

Virtuo : A Digital Art Toolset That Helps Art Novices Develop Their Artistic Side

Many of the concepts that are being designed are done to ease out our daily lives. One such innovation is the ‘Virtuo’, designed by Yana Klimava. This design can be said to be a boon for all those wannabe painters as this virtual device helps one hone their panting skills. The device consists of brushes, color pad and screen on which one draws with the help of brushes provided. And since it is all virtual colors that we are talking about, it doesn’t mean that one has to soil their hands or clothes with paint. All in all a nice concept!

Go Rack by Abhinav Dapke

The mantra today for all the designers is go green as more and more products are being designed keeping in mind the E factor. Like The Go Rack designed by Indian designer Abhinav Dapke, it’s an OLED strip with a solar panel. The two aluminum members are connected like clothes rack and have a solar panel on its back which can be placed in the sunlight for charging. And the charging hours can be seen through the indicator placed on the edge of the cloth. Once the charging is achieved one can bring it indoors and can be placed it on its base and the functioning can be controlled by a regulator.

Baguni : The Integration of Laundry Basket and Washing Machine

Are you tired of doing the same old domestic task every day? Then try out “Baguni”, a washing machine that integrates a detachable laundry basket cum washing drum. Everyone needs a basket in order to collect laundry then the laundry basket is poured into the washing machine. Now, here comes the role of ‘Baguni’ as this laundry basket can be easily placed inside the washing machine and it serves as the washing machine drum. Once the washing process is done, the clean laundry can be detached from the washing machine along with the drum or the basket. Jihyung says : “The average household uses a laundry basket to collect dirty clothes and then when full, empties it into the laundry. But why not take out a step? Just put in the laundry itself!”. Hence, now onwards, you can get rid of the usual process of pouring the laundry from your basket.

Watch The Ironing Process with B-IRON 725 Transparent Iron

The new aesthetically designed iron by Dongseok,Lee and Jihyung,Jung shall ensure that there are minimum creases when you iron. This uniquely transparent iron model named as B-IRON 725, allows the user to keep an eye on the clothes as one uses the same. Its soleplate is made with tempered glass, whose heat resistance is comparatively better than ordinary glass which means that it can easily cope itself to the changing temperatures. The overall design has been added with the geometrical criss-cross pattern across the iron with the Nichrome made electro-thermal wire. If one needs to have better ironing, just twist the handle for better results. Truly a mind blowing concept!

Atropos : An Aeorodynamic Converting Hybrid Semi Truck

The smallest improvement to the highway freight industry will create a great impact. This highly efficient truck is achieved by the use of a diesel/electric hybrid setup, a converting sleeper cab, and its streamline design. The truck runs with high efficiency through the use of a combustion turbine coupled with an electrical generator. The generator charges the battery reservoir. The combustion turbine utilizes its thermal energy by the use of a steam generator throughout the cooling system, the steam generator also provides an additional amount of cooling, reducing the size of engine ventilation and overall body drag.

The converging sleeper cab sits like a conventional driving cab, but allows for more visibility. The driving cab rotates to allow for a better sleeping position, and reveals a storage compartment for personal storage and a mini dresser. While the cab is in the sleep position the drive pedals are locked out under the cab, due to the rotation, for safety. The seats fold down and together to form a comfortable memory foam mattress.

The cab glass is also ionized and tints or blacks out according to the driver’s needs, the location of the tint will also modify to allow for view on top and not out the sides, or as the driver wishes. The aerodynamic streamline shape was inspired by locomotives and DTM race cars. The fenders sweep up to provide minimal drag, while the hood sleekly rounds to allow air to pass effortlessly, much like an airplane nose. The cab forms a tear drop shape, and covers over the cab-trailer gap, eliminating drag between the cab and trailer. The cab is also bowed at the rear to accommodate the trailer during turns while reducing drag by covering over the sides.

Aerodynamic Converting Hybrid Semi. The hybrid truck utilizes its aerodynamics by eliminating the sleeper cab and rounding the body. Long haul truck drivers are the target market. The driving cab rotates to accommodate the driver for sleep and exposes a storage compartment for clothes and possessions. The wheelbase adjusts to provide optimum aerodynamics and ride comfort, while allowing parking to become an easier task. The rear portion of the cab is curved to form the radius of the trailer to allow for turns and additional aerodynamics. The top portion of the cab has an adjustable airfoil to allow air over the top of the trailer, thus reducing even more drag. In the cab the driver experiences a sense of openness and optimal vision, but when he or she needs privacy the Ionized windows will tint or even black out for sleep.

“I set out to create an efficient truck for the vast highway freight market. Even the smallest increase in efficiency creates a huge impact on the overall use of fuel. In the U.S. alone, millions of gallons of diesel are used every year on semi truck transit. Along with its environmental impact the truck must accommodate for its driver at rest and at work. The cab must give the feeling of home while at the same time provide a safe driving environment. Parking the truck without the trailer is also an issue to address. ” states Peter Azzouni.

iBasket : Futuristic Washing Machine Concept That Sends A Message to Your Mobile Device

Are you bored of your washing machine? Then you might wish to try out this Electrolux iBasket because it will automatically clean your clothes with transparency. It is designed by Guopeng Liang at China Tongji University during an Electrolux 2008 Design Lab Competition. It is a real innovation with great potential to make the process of washing clothes less daunting experience. This laundry hamper will automatically wash your clothes once enough clothes are tossed inside as per the weight. You can also control the frequency of wash cycles. The iBasket will also send you a message on your computer once the cleaning is done.

“Failing to manage laundry and piles of dirty clothes is one of the many daily chores that are left unattended by so many busy people, whose jobs doesn’t leave them with time to take care of them. Whether you have a washing machine in your home or go to the corner laundromat, doing wash is a royal pain. Especially for the i-generation, who had whole hours pass in the blink of an eye, sometimes whole days get eaten up in some black hole and so household chores pile up. With a view to offer a little help, I have designed iBasket – a revolutionary washing machine that could really make life easier.

The i-generation are too busy working for their dreams. What if the whole laundry thing could be forgotten and both time and attention are saved for dream work?

The idea is to use this as a hamper, throwing your dirty clothes in as they accumulate. The iBasket then senses when the load is full and initiates the wash and dry cycle. Since it is Wi-Fi-enabled, you can control and monitor (if you’d like to do so) the concept washing machine via your PC or mobile device. Once the the cycle is complete, iBasket will alert you and send a message to your PC or mobile”
