“Sook”, A Wireless Kitchen Assistant Concept

Now you can stay connected to your facebook or myspace friends while working in your kitchen. Adam Brodowski from USA has designed “Sook”, a wireless kitchen assistant concept that displays and shares different recipes and allows you to connect to your social networking websites with the help of internet access on this device. “Sook” uses a series of sensors to sense what food is kept nearby or on its cutting board. Apart from measuring weight and moisture, it also includes an electronic tongue that tastes and examines food so that all the ingredients can be mixed in a better way. This device is waterproof and be washed like your other utensils. Pretty futuristic concept, especially with “electronic tongue”, very cool. Just buy your favorite food from restaurant, put it near Sook, and voila … you will get the secret ingredients and you can share it with your friends automatically.

“In my research, I found that 97% of the iGeneration owns a computer and 75% are on Facebook or other social networking sites,” says the device’s creator, Adam Brodowski, a design student at Savannah College of Art and Design in the U.S. state of Georgia. “I also found that they are all hypertaskers who do multiple things all at once. Eating dinner, text messaging, doing homework and watching TV are all strung together.

“They are also very comfortable with technology and the Internet. They run personal blogs, surf the web all day long, email back and forth and so on. Most importantly, they enjoy creating content to fuel the web and be noticed.”

All Units: This shows the various units of the Sook off the dock and ready to be used.

Docked: Shows all of the Sooks parts docked together. In this form the Dock and Touch can still be used.

Sook Touch: The Sook Touch is used to display and drag ingredients to build custom recipes. Ingredients are added when the Dock or Cut understands food near it. This then gives the user a bank of items to incorporate into there meal.

Sook Cut: The Sook Cut a cutting board containing a moisture sensor, weight sensor, and electronic tongue. It uses these sensors to identify what food is bring cut on the board and how much is being used. It then transmits this information to the Sook Touch to begin generating a recipe.

Sook Dock: A picture of the Sook Dock. Along with charging the Sook Cut and Touch the Dock works as a RFID scanner to identify what foods are near it, be it new groceries it can use for meals later, or food that is being set out to cook something currently.

Still trying to figure out what’s the reading in the conventional thermometers? Well all the worries are gone now? The new Vicks Forehead Thermometer is the new thermometer that allows parents to easily monitor their kids’ temperature with out any hassles. The thermometer sensor scans the temperature from the temple to forehead and by using the heat from the temporal artery and assesses the temperature quicker than the normal conventional thermometers. The reading is in color coded manner with green background indicating normal temperature while the red background indicating fever. Simple, nice and easy way to measure temperature.

Now you can have your telephone with a digital photo frame. The great concept of Frame Telephone is developed by the designer Tao Ma. This latest generation telephone is equipped with touch screen where you can easily change your choice of background screen. Beautiful pictures of your family members, friends as well as your own pictures can be shown continuously on the screen of the frame. If you want to see picture of the person you are talking with, you can insert a photo for each number stored in the telephone. There is a USB attached to it which connects it with your computer. Change the color of the frame as per your need. Even if you miss a call, you don’t have to worry because pictures of the caller can be seen on the screen. It delivers a modern stylish look to your desk or wall and is very useful for a tech savvy like me.

Rotator Bath by Ron Arad for Teuco

This unique bath is designed by Ron Arad for Teuco. Users can use it as a bath when the wide lip functions is at the lowest point, but it can be rotated to become a standing shower.The water is drained from the bath by rotating it back to the shower position. Two function in a design.

Designer, artist and renowned architect, Ron Arad uses the malleability of duralight and Teuco know-how to present “Rotator”, an original space and a new enjoyable experience in which a continuous and unexpected flow of water becomes the protagonist. The slowly rotating basin transforms into a shower and the continuously flowing water becomes an essential component of the product’s beauty. The background for this creation is a floor with mirrored light and glossy white walls with small red shelves that exalt the materiality and the multi-functionality that are characteristic of duralight.

Paint goes into digital is nothing new, but this palette-digital will give a new standard in digitally painting. Use your fingers, no more mouse and keyboard, feel and touch your digital canvas and palette the same way as you use ordinary canvas and palette, but this time the result will automatically sync with your PC.

The basic idea of the design background is the passion of human activities in visualizing graphic and colors trough basic painting activity. How the conservative ways and behavior are blended with digital-modern tools and people are brought into the basic feeling and sensing their old-fashion style in producing visual onto a media in term of digital life style.

Palette is a hardware system design concept that designated for digital artist, painter, design visualizer and people with passion in visual arts. The system were designed based on the background of basic painting behavior and its physiology activities. Palette is designed to have connectivity with other devices such main PC system, Main monitor or other wireless peripherals. connectivity between them are wireless and the user interface screen surface of the palette is using photo-optic visual sensor with color recognition as its main advantage.

The innovative value of palette is its capability to recognize analog color into digital format and the concept of special computer which in the way of hardware and software structure are made specially for graphic-visual work.

Palette’s physical form analogy is taken from wooden palette and reflect the concept of mix-figuratives form between ‘digital’ and ‘analog’; classic meets modernity. The whole design are surfaced with black reflection glass-illuminating looks which combined with wooden coloring and texture in minor parts. The present and mix of black reflection and wooden fixtures emerge classy-modern status which based on the aesthetical concept of “conservative meets digital”. Hm…the words “conservative meets digital”, I couldn’t agree more.
