Jenny : The Mother’s Baby Care Bed by Thiago Antonelli

Having a premature child is always a difficult experience, especially for those parents who are going over the intimidating and technical environment of NICU or Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Jenny is a specially designed infant care bed aiming to redesign the role of the parents when they are inside the NICU. This product will allow the mother to stay closer to the child physically and creates a peaceful division between the environment of the unit and her child. It is being anticipated that the combination of Jenny’s technical utilities and the affection of the mother will help the child to get well sooner.

The design of “jenny” allows parents to be physically closer to their babies. The storage is now at the “staff side” of the incubator creating an empty space which parents can use to put their legs. Parent’s can open half of the incubator dome and are encouraged to have physical contact with their children.

To facilitate physical contact between parents and child is an important part on the development and care of premature infants

Taking temperature of a baby with the currently available thermometers on the market is a challenging job for parents since they need to keep their babies still and put the thermometer under the arm or tongue to get a valid temperature reading. Lunar Baby Thermometer is a very useful apparatus that fits with the parents hand and can take temperature readings by simply placing it on the baby’s forehead. Its ergonomic and organic shape allows the user to hold and use it intuitively, while providing a safe grip in the hand of the user. A beeping sound and a flashing LED indication will let you know that the temperature has been recorded.

Childbirth Assistant by Francisco Lindoro

Francisco Lindoro designed this childbirth assistant to improve the life of those women who cannot have their babies at hospital. The inspiration came from the statistics, in just Mexico, over 500,000 pregnant women don’t have access to social security and therefore, they can’t get the proper attention that is required during the childbirth. The major concerned service providers are Midwives and the biggest problem with them is they do not have proper instruments that are required to perform trouble free childbirth. This design provides the midwives with proper instruments to ensure the well of babies.

The designer Toshimitsu Sasaki has designed a new quality chair for the whole family. He has named his design as New Bambini which is an adjustable chair fit every one from a baby to adults. The best thing about this design is the ease with which it can be adjusted/converted. The chair of course is very comfortable for any person of any size or height. The ability of chair to rotate at length while also being used as a rocking horse for the little one is just awesome! Thus, it should be a hit with all ages.

miBook PDA Teaches Skill in an Instant

The new miBook promises to change the whole definition of stereotypical chores that’s been associated with the respective gender. It’s a PDA with a 7″touchscreen and teaches skill through step-by-step videos and other multimedia. So whatever is the task be it changing diapers or gardening, miBook will surely teach you. The equipment costs $130 but it is sold without on-board memory. It also works as the digital picture frame and the format supported being MPEG video, MP3 audio and SD/xD/MS/MMC cards for cheaper storage.
