Crutches have been around since the Pharaohs ruled Egypt some 5,000 years ago. However, as a basic device of medical treatments, crutch design seldom changes. Most crutch design focus on the manufacture and price only and ignores other prospects as well. “S_UPPORT” is an innovative short-term using crutch. The purpose of this project is to develop an efficient plastic crutch, which is easy to manufacture, individualize and recycle.

The material of “S_UPPORT” is nano-nylon, a kind of plastic which could be recycled so many times without losing the strength. By using this material, “S_UPPORT” would be much more competitive than traditional metal crutches in both manufacture cost and individualization. (more…)

Compared to manually operated wheelchairs, pegasus is trying to break the image of the old wheelchair by combining electric drive motor with gyroscopic sensors to help the driver to move not just forward and backward but also in an upright position. The problem left would be the balance issue, since this is still a concept, there is no detailed description on how this pegasus wheelchair will handle that.

A new design from Joey Roth, carry-on luggage to articulate the lost romance of air travel. The design also pulls from the golden age of ocean liners: the black lacquered finish will become beautifully scraped and chipped as the suitcase travels with you, revealing the bamboo plywood beneath. The patina will develop with each trip you take. The wood bar serves as a carrying handle when closed. It unfolds, using simple 45-degree angles between bars and rotating joints, to allow the user to roll the suitcase. The interior has four drawers with bamboo bases and soft felt walls. The bottom drawer is sized for laptops. Instead of unpacking your clothes once you reach your destination, the carry-on suitcase functions as a very livable wardrobe while you?re on the go.
